Escape From The Trap And Fall Into The Trap

Foucault said:"Enlightenment means first of all that a person has the courage to recreate a new himself/herself."" Has the courage to recreate a new himself/herself",which is the primary meaning of Enlightenment.For Chinese female,what enlightenment means?It means to escape from the limits of traditional culture,to escape from the traditional fole and identity of "virtuous wife,good mother and filial daughter-in-law",which were assigned by the patriarchal culture,to escape from the status as tool and subordinate,to escape from the status that she was deprived of her own independent personality and dignity,her own love and hate,her own dream and desire,because her life did not belong to herself,but belong to her husband and his family.And to recreate a living person that has her own love and hate,dream and desire,to recreate a vigorous person that is able to support herself and has her own thought about the life and the world.This is the concept of female enlightenment of my thesis.The female writing,it has two basic meanings:first,the work writed by female writer;second,these works that have feminine consciousness.And feminine consciousness refers to the concern and consideration about female living condition and life plight.Based on the concepts of female enlightenment and female writing,apart from introduction and conclusion,the main part of my thesis includes five chapters:first,original destiny:a thing as tool and subordinate;second,female and education;third,female and marriage and love;fourth,female and revolution;fifth,persistent exploration.Specifically:The first chapter,"original destiny:a thing as tool and subordinate",mainly to elaborate female tragic fate by study the inhuman and degrading treatment which they were suffered.The second chapter,"female and education",to study the important role of modern education in shaping the lives of female,including stimulate their feminine consciousness and self-reliance consciousness.At the same time,to explore the limited nature of this effect because it depends not only on the education but also on female quality of herself.The third chapter,"female and marriage and love ",to elaborate the difficulty of female enlightenment by studying female pursuit for freedom on love and marriage.The fourth chapter,"female and revolution",to elaborate the difficulty of female enlightenment by studying the complex linkage between female and revolution.The fifth chapter,"persistent exploration",looking through the arduous struggle and exploration which female had made in three roads that is education,marriage and love,revolution,to select the particular prominent persons/works(including literary one and realistic one,because in terms of the female writing,there is a very close relationship between their literary texts and realistic texts.)and elaborate that the female enlightenment would obtain the final victory even though there is much difficulties on the roads of female enlightenment.Based on the analysis and elaboration of the main part of the thesis,"conclusion" section gets a conclusion:the female in the period of transition from old age to new one,they tried to change their tragic fate by three roads that is accepting education,free love and marriage,joining revolution;however,is quite a paradox:as the roads covered with thorns and pitfalls,when they obtained freedom and independence at some extent simultaneously they always fell into the traps that deprived their freedom and repressed their lives at higher extent.Explore the sources of all these traps——the walls that female encountered on the roads of enlightenment,to sum up,there are two reasons:first,the patriarchal consciousness in female mind which is legacy of the patriarchal culture;second,the repression come from those persons whose mind poisoned by the patriarchal culture,including male and female.
