Scripting And Interaction Of Meetings: Paradigm Analysis Of Decision-making Meetings From A Dramatic Perspective

The first part of the paper is the comparison between the decision-making meeting and the drama,including the similarities and differences between the meeting presented in the stage and the meeting in reality.The second part is the planning and presentation of the decision-making meeting in reality,and what kinds of characteristics of the drama can help the meeting in reality.Decision-making meeting have similarities with participatory drama.There are two types of participatory drama,one is with partly open ending and the other is with infinitely open ending.The meeting with partly open ending is like murder suspense drama depending on the audience to choose the ending,while the meeting with infinitely open ending is like Boal's Forum drama and improvisational drama.In addition,there is another decision-making meeting with a special form which we call meeting with clear ending.It seems as if this meeting with infinitely open ending,but the organizer has already had the desired ending.The main purpose of the meeting is to make the ending more reasonable and legal.The discussion is an indispensable part in decision-making meeting.There are also some dramas with meetings in the stage,and share something in common in terms of obvious contradictions and intense conflicts.The typical works include<12 citizens>,<Waiting for Lao zuo>,<Henry V>,etc.The general interest that can be seen easily in the stage will not appear in the reality.The drama tends to expose totally when it comes to the tense conflict,which can fully reflect the value of the presentation.If there are some intense conflicts in meeting in the reality,people will think it dramatic.But such meetings are very few in our lives,and most people get used to those meeting with harmony in surface but full of dissatisfaction in essence.Conflict happens in people's life,especially in decision-making meeting places full of various interest.However,the conflict in the meeting place is rarely shown in public,and some people even deliberately hide the conflicts pretending different parties have already reached consensus.In fact,the undercurrents in the actual meeting are often more complex than that in the stage,but the writers / directors will design the drama carefully to make it good to the audience.The organizers of the meeting in the reality tends to solve the real problems rather than looking good.The organizers of the meeting will never deliberately create dramatic situations,which is different from writer or director.On the contrary,the purpose of the meeting is to trivialize numerous and complicated things.However,most meetings go to the opposite way.After the meeting in a simple way,things gets complicated,and even difficult to clear it up no matter it is simple or complicated at the very beginning.One key reason is that the organizers don't face up to the existence of the conflicts and solve them during the meeting.In this paper,the author adapts the script and interaction mode of drama,and analyzes how to have a decision-making meeting effectively.
