The Japanization Of Modern Chinese

Quite a lot of previous studies have indicated that Europeanization of modern Chinese is a common phenomenon.However,if we take a closer look at Chinese,it would not be difficult to find that Japanization of modern Chinese is not a rare thing.Many Japanized Chinese lexicons and sentences exist much earlier than those Europeanized,and some so called Europeanization is actually Japanization,or put it in another way,via Japanese.Despite the fact that modern Chinese is formed under the influence of both Europeanization and Japanization,not much studies focus on the Japanization of Modern Chinese.As for those who are interested in this phenomenon,the researches only spare their efforts on studying at the lexical level.This dissertation,based on text comparison,intends to make a systematic study on the Japanization of Modern Chinese in Luxun's translation works from the linguistic point of view,especially the Japanization of syntactic structure,which may shed some light to future studies on modern Chinese as well as Luxun Study.This dissertation will mainly cover the following five parts.In the Introduction part,the term "Japanization" is clearly defined through the fact of Japanization of modern Chinese,and the reasons that only a few studies focus on this phenomenon are given.Then it also covers why Luxun's translation works have been applied as the case,which follows a summary on previous studies on Lu's translation works and Japanization phenomenon of Lu's translation works.What's more,deficiencies of previous studies,research aim and research methods are discussed as well.The second part concentrates on the lexical studies of Japanization phenomenon.There are two chapters in this part,which mainly covers Japanized lexicons in Luxun's translation works.The first chapter offers a general understanding of Japanization in Lu's translation works,which covers the number of homographs of Chinese and Japanese,the distribution of subjects and some typical lexicons.While in Chapter Two,it is about case studies on application of some lexicons,such as“??”(probably)and“??”(necessary)in Luxun's translation works.The third part focuses on the syntactic study.There are four chapters in this part,which mainly covers seven different Japanized sentence structures in Luxun's translation works.Chapter One studies the origin and application of the Japanized sentence structures of“??……”(about)and“??……”(as for).These two 'sentence structures are commonly explained as Europeanization,but its real origin is Europeanized Japanese.The second chapter analyzes the sentence structures of“??……??”(under...),“……?……”(and...)and“?……(?)”(is …).Although the first sentence structure,a conditional sentence structure,is a Europeanized one,it merges into modern Chinese through Japanization.While the second sentence structure is a usage in ancient Japanese.As for the last one,it is related to Europeanization on the one hand,and is also inseparable with the increasingly use of judgment sentence and the use of sentence structure of ????in Japanese on the other hand.The later two sentence structures are quite common in Luxun's translation works.In Chapter Three,more attention has been paid to the sentence structure of "......??/?/?(?)"(I/you/she/they,who…).The presentence of compound structural particle in modern Chinese is closely related to Europeanized Japanese.However,it does not just about form-copy,but originate from Luxun's creation based on Europeanized Japanese.The fourth part is the conclusion part,which provides the highlights and inadequacies of this dissertation.Moreover,suggestions for further studies are offed as well.Last but not least,an appendix has been attached,which listed the homograph lexicons of modern Chinese and Japanese according to the alphabetic order.
