Research On Shi Lu's Landscape Painting

As one of the greatest artists in 20th centuries, Shi Lu is also a controversial Chinese painter. His innovation,exploration,and profound understanding of Chinese culture spirit, earn him great reputation and make him the brightest star in Chinese painting field. What is more, he represents as the founder and pioneer to"ChangAn Painting Faction",the most important Painting school in 20th century.Shi Lu's painting wins everlasting fame and Shi Lu himself has many admirers and followers either in his alive or after his death. The study of Shi Lu and his painting is a hot subject in the study of the 20th century's art. Based on the view of historical evolution and contemporary development of Chinese landscape painting,this thesis is a thematic study of Shi Lu's landscape painting. The author takes "evolution" as the breakthrough point,and begins his work on the four basic points of Chinese painting inheritance (schema theory, theoretical analysis,meticulous deliberation and cultural character).The whole thesis can be divided into five chapters. The first chapter gives us the background information of Shi Lu and his painting art. It mainly tells his growth, succession relation and friendship.The second chapter focuses on the styles of Shi Lu's landscape painting and the creation of schema language concealed in his painting. Through the comprehensive analysis of Shi Lu's landscape painting, the author finds out the change styles of his paintings, the basis of different painting periods. With the information gathered ahead, the author creatively divides Shi Lu's landscape paintings into four different periods:Chinese and Western fusion period, returning to ethnic period, expressionism period and self-expression period. This thesis also analyzes his represented work"Moving to Shan Bei". From the aspects of schema, performance language, time expression,ideological the statement,the author explains the reason why "Moving to Shan Bei". is a master piece and milestone in 20th century Chinese painting innovation. And based on the hidden information in his landscape painting, the author also puts forward his artistic spirit and technology carrier "Shilu Cun".With the deepen interpretation of Shi Lu's painting, the author tries to understand Shi Lu's theoretical thinking and artistic pursuing in the landscape paintings. The third chapter analyzes the theoretical basis of Shi Lu's painting. The fourth chapter describes the poetic mood in Shi Lu's landscape painting with the method of "the theory of spirit creating form" . His works emphasize on the spirit of"artistic conception, reasoning, rule, entertaining",showing the inheritance of aesthetic spirit "poem as drawing".The fifth chapter explains the influence of Shi Lu's artistic spirit on both the "post-Changan painter group" and contemporary painting. With the basis of cultural inheritance, Shi Lu's influence is the regeneration of the cultural pattern.With the comprehensive study of Shi Lu's landscaping painting, the author comes to the conclusion that Shi Lu's landscape painting is the creative work in the 20th centuries Chinese painting field. His works' national characteristics,personal characters, revolutionary themes, and modern transformations, all help the realization of Shi Lu's dream of having "Chinese style" in painting. From the aspects of schema creation, theoretical construction and poetic artistic conception,Shi Lu's landscape paintings make contribution not only to the inheritance of the traditional spirit of Chinese landscape painting, but also to the innovation of modern landscape painting.
