Study Of Contemporary Information Ethics From The Perspective Of Pluralism

As a new developed branch of applied ethics,the theory of Information Ethics studies ethical claims and theoretical norms during social information activitiesand ethical relationships among these information activities.From the perspective of pluralism,contemporary information ethics emphasizes a universal ethics of "Bottom line",which could be interpreted into a kind of minimum moral consensus and a universal norm of ethics during social information activities between different nations and regions.Contemporary information ethics from the perspective of pluralism makes a contribution to the commensurable norms of information ethics and basis of liability for plural information ethics.Especially under the condition of extreme human-centrism and discourse hegemony by western world,pluralism provides ways that retain their irreducible differences from others,while sharing a focus on notions of harmony or resonance as analogues for the structures of ethical pluralism.The advent of Information Ethics has a profound background in terms of historical origins,cultural background and contemporary opportunities.On the aspect of historical origins,the exploration of pluralism and universalism under the condition of western ethics and Chinese ethics,offers intellectual resources for contemporary information ethics;On the aspect of cultural background,information ethics under the condition of pluralism makes a proposal that a kind of minimum moral consensus and a universal norm of ethics could be preserved during social information activities between different nations and regions.On the aspect of contemporary opportunities,the "empirical turn" and "ethical turn"after the declination of classic philosophy of technology provided a platform for the advent of information ethics from a perspective of pluralism.The advent of Information Ethics is offered with outstanding theoretical foundations,and it has evolved into a relatively systematic and comprehensive theory under the fruitful efforts on many scholars.With the development of informatization,a growing number of scholars are conscious of the thought of "harmony in diversity" to treat the ethical issues in our information society.This kind of "harmony in diversity" not only contains a shared set of norms,but also reserves and fosters their irreducible differences and distinctive identities.When it comes to the situation that information technology is always combined with a sort of global information and cultural tradition,what we propose is to make a new connection of these irreducible differences and distinctive identities in a greater pluralism frame,and thus to make a universal construction of information ethics.Currently,there are still a series of ethical issues in the area of information ethics,such as digital gap,information liberty,intellectual property,information security and so on,which need us to make a dialectic analysis.On the aspect of digital gap,the issue of digital gap results from the inequality of information control,which could be interpreted as inequality from dimension of digital resource,inequality from dimension of digital technology and inequality from dimension of knowledge gap.On the aspect of information liberty,the revolution of contemporary technology brings challenges to the information control and human's privacy,which needs us to pay close attention to the protection of human's privacy under the condition of internet and internet of things,and we ought to make relative solutions from the aspect of institutional constraints and technology promotion.On the aspect of intellectual property,much concern need to be paid to the positive function and ethical frontier of intellectual property innovation.On the aspect of information security,it is suggested that a new sort of new technology ethics ought to be designed and constructed with a presence of ethics,a technological management of encryption code and a spirit of responsible innovation.Consequently,this kind of technology ethics makes a turn of material emphasis to human's actual demand,so as to promote a return of humanity.Lastly,with a reference of global ethics,the advent of Information Ethics under the condition of pluralism provides a public platform to push forward ethical dialogue between different nations and regions,and mutually investigate the newest trend of information ethics under the premise of plural culture.To tackle with information ethical issues,multiple departments needs to participate into the information governance from three aspects of participants,society and technology.
