The Cave 4 of Maijishan Grottoes is the largest cave and remains in Northern Dynasties in Maijishan.It was Li Chongxin that carved it for private merits and virtues combined the seven buddhas with Maitreya Faith to memorize his relatives.With the admiration of rulers,Buddhism in Northern Zhou Dynasty took in popular elements in Eastern Wei,Northern Qi and Southern Dynasty and became flourishing.Changan became the center of Buddhism and had direct impacts on regions around through their mixture and creation.Qinzhou was the first to be affected which contained the Maijishan Grottoes Grottoes.It was the center of Buddhism there and was faced with another developing period after Northern Wei Dynasty and Western Wei as one of the most important grottoes in northern region.It carved many caves and statues which represented by Cave 4.Li Chongxin presented The Lee family in Longxi and promoted his political and economic status through alliance with Yu Wendao and participation in military promotion of Fu-ping System as a big family in Qinzhou so that had abilities to build such a time-and-money consuming project like Cave 4.Yu Xin was invited by him to write an article named Niches inscription and sequence of Maiji Cliff in Tianshui County of Qinzhou after he climbed Maiji Mountain and thus became the best annotation for Cave 4.Cave 4 of Maijishan Grottoes is an original one and has great meaning with great impacts on Buddhism in Qinzhou and Maijishan through assimilating and creating sutras,images and architectures in Changan,Yecheng,Luoyang and southern areas.Its inclusive features also enlightens us.Cave 4 become a paradise for people to worship in saha world as the place of preach and paradise in Buddha place.The accomplishment of it and its attachments represents the success to building the holy place.With the transformation of its nature and function,Cave 4 has become the center of religion activities and been reconstructed from Sui and Tang Dynasties to Ming and Qing Dynasties.
