Calligraphy in ancient times is used by the literati to convey ideas.It is an important means of communication."The style of calligraphy is the man"(“????”)argument has existed since ancient times.View calligraphy knows the writer,view a person knows his or her calligraphy.Calligraphy and its writer are closely related in the ideological content,spirit and quality of human life.This paper chooses the proposition of "the style of calligraphy is the man" as the research object,and makes a comprehensive examination of the relationship between "calligraphy" and"calligrapher",and reflects on the thought of "the style of calligraphy is the man"from four aspects.First of all,what kind of the "human" is the "calligraphy" like?As the connotation of "human" is very rich,this article will study the characteristics of"human" from the aspects of mind,emotion,character and knowledge.These will be discussed in the first chapter,concept and connotation of "the style of calligraphy is the man".Secondly,how can the "calligraphy" be linked with the "human"?This article will start from the "rhetoric makes its sincerity"(“?????”),to explore the connotation of the "Integrity is reflected through the writing "(“?????”),the nature of "Neutralization and Balance in the Outlook"(“????”),and the characteristics of "Personification through calligraphy"(“????”).These will be discussed in the second chapter on the philosophical view.Thirdly,from which aspect is the "calligraphy" like the "human"?Calligraphy has a close linkage with "human" in the bones,flesh,blood and spirit.These will be discussed in the third chapter on the life view.Fourthly,what kind of "calligraphy" can be linked with the "human"?Aesthetics should pursue the truth and seek the good,while calligraphy works should strive to"be perfect"(“????”).calligraphers should work hard to achieve excellence in both performing skills and moral integrity(“????”).These will be discussed in the fourth chapter on the aesthetic view.The philosophical view of "the style of calligraphy is the man" provides a philosophical basis for this proposition.Philosophy is the soul of man,and with philosophical thinking,art can be generated from it.Humans are the bridge which connects the internal(philosophy,culture)and external(calligraphy,painting).The philosophical view will be discussed from four aspects,namely the literacy and character theory(???),the mind and temperament theory(???),the image theory(???),and the neutralization theory(???).The literacy and character theory,mind and temperament theory,and the image theory are intrinsically and externally unified in nature,but with different emphasis.The theory of literacy and character emphasizes the unity of literacy and character,that is,the unity of personality cultivation and calligraphy.The mind and temperament theory focuses on the heart which dominates everything,and emphasize that integrity is reflected through the writing.Image theory emphasizes "meaning grasped and imageries forgotten","meaning" is the inner,and "imagery" is the external.The form of expression is "personification through calligraphy",reflecting the characters outlook through the calligraphy art.Neutralization emphasis on calligraphy art in the opposition and unity,focusing on human related to the scope of the meaning,such as movement and quiet,fat and thin,young and old,moist and dry,and so on.The life view of "the style of calligraphy is the man" provides a life basis for the proposition.Calligraphy is not only a piece of paper work,it reflects various aspects of human."The style of calligraphy is the man" shows a three-dimensional person from outside to inside.The outside refers to the form of human life(including Muscles-Bones-Flesh-Blood),and the inside refers to the spirit of human life(including spiritual temperament,mind temperament,personality cultivation,etc.).Life form and the spirit of life is fundamentally external and internal unity.Life form is visual,reflecting the invisible life of the spirit,that is,reflects the backbone,air,bookish and so on through the Muscles-Bones-Flesh-Blood.The aesthetic view of "the style of calligraphy is the man" provides an aesthetic basis for the proposition.Aesthetics will be discussed from the spirit of seeking truth and the pursuit of goodness.Calligraphy art is the creation of the calligrapher.Although the "moral quality" cannot replace the "taste of calligraphy",but with the influence of the Confucian ethical view,since ancient times,the premise of evaluating a person's art is the cognition of the person.So the evaluation of calligraphy is inevitably concerned with moral quality.If one person has poor character,and no matter how good his calligraphy is,it is difficult to get recognition and be passed along.The philosophical view,life view and aesthetic view of "the style of calligraphy is the man" are not isolated,but with the inherent logical relationship.The core of the proposition is the relationship between calligraphy(external)and human(inner).Therefore,the literacy and character theory,the mind theory,and the image theory in the second chapter will discuss the relationship between the inside and the outside from philosophical view.The Muscles-Bones-Flesh-Blood theory,the outlook theory(???)and breathing theory(???)in the third chapter will discuss the relationship between inside and the outside from life view.The "perfect" and "good but not perfect"(“?????”)theories in the fourth chapter will discuss the relationship between the inside and the outside from aesthetic and ethics views.This article is based on the main line of the inside and outside relations to study the "the style of calligraphy is the man" thinking.Through the study we will find a suitable way for the development of calligraphy art,guide calligraphy art return to what it should be,inspire the calligrapher to focus on the internal efforts and the cultivation of the mind,to develop morality and artistic culture in parallel,so as to strive to create "gentle" and "perfect" works.
