There were remarkable characteristics about currencies in Wei Jin South and North Dynasty, such as various types and chaotic monetary system were the most important parts of them, and these characters became an extremely special and important part in the development of ancient Chinese currency. It was of great significance to delve into the currency of this period and solve its related problems, which could not only help us to clarify the basic currency development context, but could fully reveal the inherent law of monetary operation,in turn,it could also summarize of the gain and loss of money supply. It would undoubtedly play an important role in promoting the study of the history of currency and the history of that time by these efforts. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, the phenomenon of weight loss of coins had led to increasingly sericious inflation. The bad way of coining money of inferior quality of Dong Zhuo had accelerated the collapse of monetary economy at the end of the Han Dynasty. From this the commodity economy had shifted to a low level. In order to improve the terrible economic environment, the establishment of the three regime had adopted different monetary policy:the rulers of Cao Wei were always committed to restoring WuZhu coin which had been issued from Han dynasty, while made a series measures to restore the social and economic development, and finally guaranteed the success of the currency reform.By contrast,in order to achieve rapid accumulation of military strength, rulers of Shu Han issued a large sum of virtual money at the expense of the people;this policy was imitated and followed by the rulers of Sun Wu.However, the monetary policy was a temporary economic measure under the background of “Military priority system”,it could not guarantee the normal operation of social economy at all. With the rise of inflation, this policy was strongly opposed by the public, and the opposition of the public was the reason that the policy failed finally.Furthermore, the theory of seal money and Anti-money proposed by Zhang Lin and Liu Tao of Han dynasty was also the focus part of this chapter.Their monetary thinking profoundly affected the direction of monetary policy in the following centuries.Despite the lack of historical records of issuing coins records in the Jin Dynasty regime, this time the currency had not stopped.By combing the information with excavation of tomb of jin Dynasty all parts of country. It was found currencies circulated in the market were mainly Wu Zhu of Han Dynasty, the new coin of the period of Wang Mang ruling, the coins of Shu Han and Sun Wu.When a variety of different forms and weight of money were mixed and circulated, users discarded the original face value and traded it according to the weight of the coin.In addition,According to in-depth investigation the cause no-casting coin for a long time in Jin Dynasty, then it was found that this was a deliberately monetary policy performed by the rulers of Jin Dynasty, the aim of this policy was to maintain the existing currency's value,so as to effectively guarantee the interests and economic foundation of the hereditary gentry. In background of the increasingly fierce political struggling in eastern Jin Dynasty, the monetary policy that did not make money eventually led to a conflict between the clan, which was "waste money" between Huan Xuan and Kong Lin Zhi.In addition, unique monetary circulation channels in Jin Dynasty accelerated the speed of amassing wealth for the ruling class, stimulated their greed, and directly led to the general growth of luxury consumption behavior in the aristocratic stratum, which was criticized fierce and satire strongly by Lu Bbao in his work “Money monotheistic”.It is paticularly arduous for the process of currency issuing of Northern Wei regime. As a nomadic nation, many contradictions and conflicts had emerged since Wu Zhu was issued in Tai He period, because government lacked the experience of casting money. In particular, the problem of pirate coinage had affected the four regimes from Eastern Wei,Western wei to Northern Qi and Northern Zhou, which had become a major factor leading to the long-term chaos of the monetary system in North Dynasty. At the same time,we found the currency problem hidden behind in the Northern Wei Dynasty through analyzing Yuan Cheng's letters written to emperor, the difference between new money and old money in the value was the reason that caused the phenomenon of poor currency circulation, which was also the reason that all the reforms in North Wei Dynasty were failed. In particular,it had been creatively made a lot of money policy in North Zhou dynasty because they had the unique geographical advantage, and it had achieved great success,it also laid a good economic foundation for Northern Zhou to unify the north. In the early days of the Southern Dynasty, the problem of deflation had been widespread, which made the economic environment of the Southern Dynasty faced with a congenital deficiency. In addition, the lack of metal copper made the rulers unable to maintain five baht money system, which lead to the phenomenon of weight loss of coins. It is important to note that facing to multiple social contradictions, the four regimes of Song Dynasty,Qi,Liang and Chen failed to make suitable monetary policies in a timely manner, which made the monetary economy in the Southern Dynasties move on the edge of the two extremes of tightening and expansion. After the issuance of iron coins, the phenomenon of "shengmo" began to appear in the field of currency circulation. We also made a meaningful discussion about its formation causes and characteristics of The Times. There are two mainly aspects in the conclusion part: First, summarized the six characteristics of the currency in Wei Jin South and North Dynasties.Second, objectively evaluated the historical status of the currency. On the whole, the development of the currency in the Wei,Jin Southern and North Dynasty was in line with the laws of China's feudal economic development, but also had some unique characteristics of The Times. To be familiar with these rules and characteristics was of positive reference for the orderly development of today's social economy.
