Since Dweck proposed the notion of individual's mindset,the influence of it on multiple cognitive processes has been demonstrated.Being a high-level cognitive process,whether creativity is affected by the individual's mindset and what the mechanism behind it lack corresponding empirical research.In addition,as a kind of metacognitive knowledge,individual's mindset is closely related to the other two components of metacognition-metacognitive experience and metacognitive monitoring and control.But there has been no research to examine the independence and mutual influence of each dimension of metacognition on the performance of different creative thinking tasks.In view of this,this study designed to explore the independent impact of individual's mindset and its interactive impact with metacognitive experience and metacognitive monitoring on creative thinking performance,aiming at revealing the internal mechanism of individual's mindset affecting creative cognition from the perspective of metacognition.The results of this study can not only enrich the theory of creativity,but also provide the new view for cultivating creativity from the perspective of individual's mindset.This study included three studies of 10 sub-studies.In the first study,we explored the relationship between individual's mindset and creative achievement(study 2.1),divergent thinking task(study 2.2),and convergent thinking task(study 2.3),respectively.In the second study,we firstly used retrieval fluency paradigm to explore the impact of metacognitive experience on the performance of divergent thinking tasks(study 3.1),and further explored the role of individual's mindset and cognitive persistence in it(study 3.3).In addition,we used perceptual fluency paradigm to explore the impact of metacognitive experience on the performance of convergent thinking tasks(study 3.2),and further explored the moderated role of individual's mindset in it(study 3.4).In the third study,we firstly used think aloud method to investigate the types of strategies commonly used in the process of completing divergent thinking tasks(study 4.1).Secondly,we examined the role of individual's metacognitive strategy monitoring and control on the influence of individual's mindset on the performance of divergent thinking tasks(study 4.2).Finally,we examined the role of individual's metacognitive monitoring on the influence of individual's mindset on the peiformance of convergent thinking tasks(study 4.3).The whole study used the Growth mindset scale-(GMS)and experimental manipulation to measure.the individual's-mindset.In addition,the study used the alternative uses task to measure individual's divergent thinking and used the logogriph of Chinese characters and the Chinese remote associated test(RAT)to measure individual's convergent thinking.The main conclusions of the current study include:1.The individual's mindset has a significant predictive effect on the creative achievement and behavior,Individuals with incremental mindset have better performance of creative achievement and behavior.2.The individual's mindset has a significant influence on the performance of creative thinking.The mechanism of it contains the following aspects:(1)Direct influence.The individual's incremental mindset promotes the performance of divergent and convergent thinking(2)Through the indirect influence of metacognitive experience.The individual's mindset plays a regulatory role in the effect of Individual's metacognitive experience manipulated by processing fluency on creative thinking.Individuals with incremental mindset can further promote the divergent thinking performance under disfluency metaognitive experience by regulating cognitive persistence.However,individuals with incremental mindset can make up for the loss of convergent thinking performance caused by the disfluency metacognitive experience through the additional cognitive persistence.(3)Through the indirect influence of metacognitive monitoring and control.The individual's mindset influences the divergent and convergent thinking performance through different content of metacognitive monitoring and control.In the divergent thinking task,individuals with incremental mindset produce more creative ideas through accurate and effective metacognitive monitoring and control of unconventional strategies.In the convergent thinking task,individuals with incremental mindset improve the performance of problem solving through the accurately metacognitive monitoring of the key heuristic information of problems.
