Study On Japanese Plundering Of Economic Resources In Dongbian Dao Area (1905-1945)

The Dongbian Dao Area is the local administrative system set in the northeast border at the end of the Qing Dynasty.The district locates on the east of New Bian and Old Bian of original Liutiaobian,known as the "East".The main area covers today's Tonghua City.In the early Republic of China,the largest territory has expanded to Fushun,Dalian and other cities.Therefore,the historical Dongbian Dao Area is a huge area of mountains locates along the west side of Changbai Mountain,on the south of Yalu River and on both sides of Hun River.It overlaps the modern history of the "south Munchulia" area.As a historical memory area,the establishment of the Dongbian Dao Area existed throughout the late Qing Dynasty,the Republic of China and the Manchuria state.Even after the founding of the People's Republic of China,though the administrative system was no longer in existence,the concept of the area among citizens still existed for a long time.In modern times,this area has experienced many important historical events,witnessed the suffering of the people of Northeast China.Because of the Liutiaobian isolation of Qing Dynasty was banned here to become the core area of forbidden region,this area retains the extremely rich natural resources and agricultural resources,which is coveted by Japan.Due to the adjacent to the Korean Peninsula,when Japan annexed Korea,the area has become the frontier and the suffered region of Japanese invasion of northeast china.Rich land and great natural resources have become an important target of Japanese economic plunder.Since the beginning of the Sino Japanese War,to the end of World War ?,as an important source of economic resources to maintain the Japanese foreign war,this area suffered Japanese military invasion and economic plundering for half a century.Therefore,all the so-called Japanese construction is the strategy to maintain the war in the other area.The Dongbian Dao Area is the epitome of Japanese invasion of Northeast China,the whole China and even the invasion of Asia.Taking Japanese economic plundering in the Dongbian Dao Area as the aim of research can strongly refute the false opinion that Japan has made beneficial progress in Northeast China.In fact,the construction of the Japanese aggression force to the Dongbian Dao Area and the whole northeast is far less than their plundering and destruction to the area.This is especially worth remembering and vigilant.This paper is composed of introduction and five chapters.The introduction part introduces the research background,literature review,significance of the study,objectives and contents of the dissertation,as well as the key points,difficulties and research methods of this dissertation.Chapter one introduces the establishment and evolution of the administrative system of the Dongbian Dao Area,as well as the main natural conditions and resources in the region.From the historical and geographical view,this chapter introduces the location and administrative changes of the Dongbian Dao Area in the northeast,as well as the importance in the history and geography of the northeast.At the end of the Qing Dynasty's,especially at the beginning of the Republic of China,with the abundant natural resources such as forest resources,fertile farmland,precious mineral resources,and vertical and horizontal transportation,economy of the Dongbian Dao Area is developing rapidly under the efforts of the local people.In the meanwhile,these resources and advantages are becoming more and more coveted by Japanese invaders.During World War ?,China temporarily get a respite,some economic development opportunities and accumulation on economy during the gap of the Western imperialist powers.But soon,all were invaded by the invading Japanese forces.After winning the Russo Japanese war,Japan occupied the whole south Manchuria exclusive area to strengthen the South Manchuria Railway Line construction and also made in garrison power around the South Manchuria railway.The Dongbian Dao Area is just within this area which becomes the focus of Japanese plundering.In order to expand the comprehensive invasion of the northeast,Japan established some large industrial,military,political and economic institutions in the South Manchuria area.The second chapter discusses Japanese plundering of the agricultural resources in the Dongbian Dao Area.Although the east road is located in mountainous areas without the connected large tracts of farmland,there are more precious resources and agricultural products,which are an important object of Japanese plundering.Japan carried out the cruel agricultural "out of the load" system to plunder grain and other agricultural products.In addition,agricultural investment and product dumping are also implemented to transform the area into its commodity dumping place.By trade predation and financial control,Japanese crushed the people in the Dongbian Dao Area further.The third chapter discusses the plundering of the forestry resources in the Dongbian Dao Area.This area is located in the mountain valley in the south of Changbai Mountain and on the right bank of Yalu River.The temperature and humidity and the long-term ban of the Qing Dynasty led the rich quality of forest resources in the area.In this regard,the Japanese aggressors have been coveted for a long time.As early as in the "918" incident,Japan made a very detailed investigation on forestry resources in this region.The establishment of the Yalu River Wood company monopolized forest harvesting and processing industry in the area.Right after "918" incident,the exploitation activities become more reckless.In addition,in order to plunder the forest resources quickly,the road construction in this area is accelerated,especially the construction of the railway network.Chapter four discusses the Japanese plundering of the coal resources in the Dongbian Dao Area.Coal is another rich natural resource in this area and it is also the main source of energy that can support Japanese war of aggression.Japan has also made a detailed survey of the coal resources in the area,and then launched a long-term and large-scale plunder with steps.Especially during the Manchuria period,the mining rights,mineral resources,mining and marketing of coal mines in Tonghua,Benxi and Fushun areas were all dominated by Japanese aggressors.The coal resources captured by them were uncountable.Chapter five discusses the plundering of the metal and other mineral resources in the Dongbian Dao Area.Iron ore,as Japanese foreign expansion indispensable strategic materials and the largest demand,is Japanese main object of plunder.Other resources of gold,silver,copper,aluminum,lead,zinc and other non-ferrous metal are also needed and have been plundered by the Japanese invaders.Asbestos,mica and other mines with good stock in the area did not escape the forces of greed of invading Japanese either.
