Research On The Establishment And Government Of The Dongbian Dao In Late Qing Dynasty

Dongbian, the name of the special terrain which presents itself after the construction of the Liu Tiaobian Wall in ShengJing and XingJing, generally refers to the eastern border areas of Liu Tiaobian. The prohibition policy on Dongbian pursued by the Qing Dynasty lasted for as long as two hundreds years. During this period, the Qing Dynasty hardly had established any administrational institution for the people beyond the Dongbian area. After the middle period of the Daoguang, the acreage and range of land reclaimed had been gradually increased, with the rise of the amount of refugees. This, along with reclamation the Koreans over the border, resulted in the Qing Government's switch to the rescinding prohibition policy on the Eastern. The Qing Government established the Andong County and Feng Huang Ting beyond the Dongbian area at the second year of Guangxu (1876 AD), and then followed Tonghua, Huairen, Kuandian Counties in Dongbian at the third year of Guangxu. Later Fenxunfengtiandongbianbingbeidao in Fenghuang castle, which can be abbreviated to Dongbian dao, was established. The academic circle failed to study systematically the establishing background,establishing process and the historical function of Dongbian dao. And these are the main concerns of this paper.The thesis can be divided into three piece.1. The basic situation of Dongbian dao before it had been established.2. The evolution and the establishment of Dongbian dao.3. The historical function of the establishment of Dongbian dao.Further discuss the relationship between the development of Yalu River field and the establishment and the government of Dongbian dao, thus emphasize the importance and emergence of the research of Yalu River field.
