Research On The Core Values Of Contemporary China Through Perspectives Of Overseas Scholars

In November 2012,the socialist core values were summarized and presented in12 words for the first time during the 18 th CPC National Congress as follows:advocating prosperity,democracy,civilization,harmony;advocating freedom,equality,justice,rule of law,advocating patriotism,dedication,integrity,kindness,and actively cultivate socialist core values." The core socialist values is an important generalization of concise and contemporary Chinese core values.Overseas scholars have been very concerned about the core values of contemporary China,and their research constitutes an image of our core values that we should not neglect.The attention of overseas scholars on the core values of contemporary China is mainly reflected in three aspects.First,the traditional origin of the core values of contemporary China.From the debate on Asian values to the study of the value of Confucian culture,we can find their main research thinking is to find the connection between economic development and the core values.The most concerned problem of overseas scholars is the modernization of the traditional value.The indirect revelation from the overseas studies is that we should inherit the excellent traditional culture resources,modernize the traditional value to get new meaning and better summarize the concise expression.In one word,the process of cultivation and practice the core socialist value can not ignore its self body genes and culture background.Second,the debate between the core values of contemporary China and the "Universal Values".The penetration of " Universal Values" originated from the West is a major challenge to cultivate and practice the core socialist values at present.We need to analyze the source,essence and propagation path of the "universal value" in the perspective and the framework of overseas scholars.Taking the relationship between universality and particularity as the main line,the current situation of the core values of contemporary China has to be outlined in the western academic field of view,that means under the pressure of western " Universal Values",cultivation and practice the core socialist values should take a clear-cut stand against the "Universal Value",but also actively learn from the essence part of world civilization.Third,the relationship between the core values of contemporary China and theideological development of the Communist Party of China.There are some confusing question such as how they analyze the core socialist values in the ideological level,why they continue to use the term "legitimacy" to analyze the Chinese Communist Party,why they equate patriotism with nationalism.On one hand,deeper rooted prejudice still exists in the overseas scholars value position.On the other hand the situation also encourage we continue to advance innovation development of ideology of CPC,to improve overseas communication ability of the core socialist values,to break through the western discourse barrier.Through the literature research and comparative research methods,this paper mainly analyzes overseas scholars' views on the core values of contemporary China,tries to get the inspiration for the construction of core socialist value in a timely manner and clarifies the misinterpretation of the academic overseas so as to strengthen the cultivation and practice the core socialist value.
