Studies On The Impact Of FDI On The Industrial Upgrading In Guangdong Province

Foreign direct investment is one of the important driving powers of China's rapid economic development.Especially in Guangdong province of China,the first to enjoy the support of the strategy of opening up to the foreign,foreign direct investment and domestic labor,combined closely with the market,achieve rapid development of the local economy.Growth rate is in the lead position in the country for a long time.Since the international financial crisis in 2008,Guangdong province exposed that most companies in the industry chain is not high,the added value is not high and the problem against the risk of fluctuations in the international economy ability is weak,in the face of domestic labor market supply and demand to reverse,"shortage of migrant workers",demographic dividend vanish,and environmental constraints,the industrial land transfer to southeast Asia countries and regions with lower costs,such as problems of Guangdong province urgently need to speed up the industrial upgrading process,make good use of foreign direct investment and play the positive role of foreign direct investment in industrial upgrading,the full implementation of the central proposed the strategy of "structural reform" supply side,ready to go "capacity,inventories,deleveraging,cost reduction,short board".In the current economic development situation,the reform of Guangdong province as a big province of our country economy and development of frontier regions,Guangdong Province as an object,in-depth study of foreign direct investment has important practical significance on the impact of industrial upgrading.In this paper,on the basis of the key research literature at home and abroad for reference,quantitative research using panel data of Guangdong province and under the jurisdiction of 21 prefecture level cities,the research content mainly includes: analysis of Guangdong province foreign direct investment and industrial upgrading,recognition of foreign direct investment scale evolution and industrial distribution,three industrial structure evolution and subdivision of the industrial structure,regional urban industrial isomorphism,technical knowledge and other aspects of the construction of innovation output;Building index and industrial upgrading industrial structure deviation index,analysis of Guangdong industrial upgrading;Application of time series analysis and modeling method of spatial econometric analysis,an empirical research of foreign direct investment capital formation effect and technology spillover effect,and the influence of foreign direct investment of industry upgrading of Guangdong province.Put forward to make better use of foreign direct investment,accelerate the policy recommendations of the industrial upgrading in Guangdong province.This article is divided into six chapters.The first chapter is introduction.It mainly introduces the selected topic background,significance,research status,research contents,research methods and possible innovations.The second chapter is related concepts and basic theory.Including foreign direct investment and industrial upgrading of two defining the basic concept,further elaborated the foreign direct investment and industrial upgrading of the relevant theoretical research results,mainly elaborated the theory basis of the formation of foreign direct investment,the basic theory of industrial upgrading,foreign direct investment on the industrial upgrading of the dual effects of foreign direct investment,the core mechanism of foreign direct investment to promote industrial upgrading.The third chapter is the study of the performance and characteristics of foreign direct investment in Guangdong province.Based on the actual data of foreign direct investment in Guangdong Province,this paper analyzes the performance of foreign direct investment in Guangdong province from two aspects of time and space,and identifies the typical characteristics of foreign direct investment in Guangdong province.The analysis includes the size evolution of the foreign direct investment in Guangdong province,the distribution of foreign direct investment into the industry,foreign direct investment source structure situation of home and foreign direct investment utilization form.Found that since the 1990 s,Guangdong province foreign direct investment scale in addition to the end of the 20 th century to the early 21 st century there are some ups and downs,attract foreign investment scale continues to expand as a whole;but overall proportion in the whole country is on the decline,which reflects the Guangdong province to foreign investment attracting advantage as the country's reform and opening up and economic development level,the problem of points by other areas gradually;Pearl River Delta region of Guangdong province is still the core region to attract foreign direct investment,foreign direct investment has significant attraction,but the existence way of the foreign direct investment are not reasonable,the investment of Guangdong province industrial structure is unreasonable,the third industry investment projects small scale,single source and single investment industry concentration,etc.The fourth chapter is the evolution of industrial structure and industrial upgrading in Guangdong province.A detailed analysis of characteristics of evolution of industrial structure in Guangdong province,including three times the industrial structure in Guangdong province and the dynamic changes of the subdivision of the industrial structure;further in Guangdong province has 21 prefecture level industrial isomorphism is analyzed,considering the close relationship between the number of patents and new product output changes and industrial upgrading,technological innovation and research in Guangdong province to observe the changes of knowledge innovation,industry upgrading of Guangdong province in the aspects of technological progress.In the early days of reform and opening up,the industrial base of Guangdong province is very weak,and low level of service industry development is more.With the large-scale introduction of foreign investment and the advancement of industrialization,the second industry in the proportion of the total economy is increasing,the service industry has also been rapid development,and three industrial structures adjust accordingly.Since the beginning of the new century,the Pearl River Delta region in Guangdong has formed a "321" type of industrial structure.In the process of adjusting the three industrial structures,the internal structure of the industry is constantly adjusted.Planting industry continue to fall in the proportion of the added value of primary industry,the proportion of fisheries,aquaculture.Second industry,computer,communications,and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry rapid development,become the pillar industry and leading industry in the region.Third traditional service industry in the proportion of the decline in the proportion of modern service industry,producer services more than living services.The closer the geography is,the higher the industrial convergence of the city,cities are optimized by the gradual adjustment of industry layout,formed between different cities differ each other and support each other relations of industrial division of labor.The fifth chapter is the empirical study on the impact of FDI on industrial upgrading in Guangdong province.Using the time-series data in Guangdong Province,to measure analysis of rationalization of industrial structure in Guangdong province,Guangdong industrial upgrading index calculation,and analyzes its performance characteristics;using time series analysis modeling technology,foreign direct investment in the empirical test of the effect of capital formation and technological spillover effect;Found that foreign direct investment on the capital formation of Guangdong province and the industrial technology spillover has an important positive role.There is a long-term stable relationship between foreign direct investment and economic growth in Guangdong Province,Grainger causality test in support of foreign direct investment is an important reason for the economic growth of Guangdong province;With the foreign direct investment is an important part of Guangdong province capital formation,can significantly enhance the capacity of the economic growth of Guangdong province expected conclusion is consistent,namely Guangdong province foreign direct investment has significant effect of capital formation.The total factor productivity of Guangdong Province as a linear function of foreign direct investment and investment in research and development,the proportion of indicators using foreign direct investment and domestic investment,technology spillover effect of FDI on domestic investment,the analysis found that Guangdong province foreign direct investment to a positive impact on regional total factor productivity,there is a significant technology spillover effect.Analysis on the influencing factors of industrial upgrading,found that in gross domestic product,the second industry investment in fixed assets,fixed assets investment,secondary and tertiary industries of the tertiary industry employment and total employment ratio,foreign direct investment,imports and exports can better represent the demand factors,supply factors and international factors,the formation of the panel using the data of each city Guangdong Province,set up the fixed effect panel data model and the random effect model of panel data,the study found that foreign direct investment,secondary and tertiary industry employment proportion,exports,and the third industry investment in fixed assets of four variables index to have a positive role in promoting industrial upgrading index,the parameter estimates were 0.276,0.1 0.02 and 0.019.Considering the influence of spatial interaction,the establishment of space Durbin panel data model,the empirical results show that foreign direct investment and the third industry investment in fixed assets has a significant boost to promote industrial upgrading,10% of foreign direct investment to increase direct effects and indirect effects on industrial upgrading of Guangdong province are 0.187 and 0.3 respectively,the total effect is up to 0.488.Finally,we put forward for the conclusions and policy recommendations.In this chapter,summarized the gain in the process of full text research conclusion,and according to the research conclusion,combined with the actual development of Guangdong Province,put forward to make better use of foreign direct investment,accelerate the industry upgrading of Guangdong province policy recommendations.Concrete,in the future,Guangdong should further improve the level of opening to the outside world,expand the scale of foreign direct investment,and strive to improve the quality of foreign direct investment.To meet the needs of the national development needs and industrial upgrading,focus on bringing in advanced manufacturing and production services of foreign direct investment.Take measures to encourage foreign investment enterprises set up R&D center in the local,play the role of foreign direct
