Study On The Recession Mechanism Of Industrial Clusters Based On Self-organization Theory

The industry clusters,as an important form of the development of regional economy,has been widely used all over the world.From the traditional manufacturing industry to the modetn high-tech industry,industry clusters exists in various fields.While the industry clusters has been used as an effective way to enhance the regional economy by many countries and governments,the phenomenon of regional economic recession caused by the recession of industry clusters can not be ignored.Although many scholars have made great achievements in fields of phenomenon of clusters recession,reasons of clusters recession,and risk of clusters recession,but there are still lack of systematic explanation for the clusters recession’s evolution and the inherent mechanism of clusters recession.This thesis constructs the analysis framework of industry clusters’ recession,based on self-organization,and studies on internal mechanism of industry clusters,combining theoretical analysis,model analysis and case analysis.The main contents of this thesis include:(1)Based on the induction of the characteristics of the industry clusters self-organization evolution,constructs an analysis framework of dynamic mechanism of cluster self-organization evolution,using collaboration mechanism,fluctuation mechanism and entropy reduction mechanism,and reveals the mechanism of industry clusters recession.That is:only under the condition of these dynamic mechanisms running smoothly can the cluster complete the self-organization evolution,from disorder to order,from lower to higher.Once these dynamic mechanisms are damaged,the cluster will toward recession because of loss the ability to adapt to environmental changes.(2)Analysis the industrial cluster collaboration mechanism with the specialization as the starting point.Through analysis the change of specialization has two-way affection on the collaboration mechanism,promotion and destruction,construct a dynamic game model of competition and cooperation,and analysis the cluster evolution results under the collaboration mechanism.The results show that:under the influence of specialization,when the negative effect of specific rent,excessive competition and etc play a major role,some enterprises will be extruded,or all the enterprises’ income will reduce,and the cluster will become recession.Only when both companies can gain more benefits from specialization,the collaboration mechanism will play a positive role,and the cluster can achieve the result of self-organizing evolution.(3)Analysis the industrial cluster fluctuation mechanism with the knowledge spillover as the starting point.Through analysis the positive and negative effects the knowledge spillover has on the fluctuation mechanism,and construct a three-stage game model of innovation and imitation,study on the cluster evolution results under the fluctuation mechanism.The results show that:knowledge spillover level in the certain scope will have positive effects on the innovation,but excessive knowledge spillover will cause enterprise’s innovation inertia,and result the failure of fluctuation mechanism running,then the cluster will lose the self-organizing evolution toward recession.The enterprise’s innovation success rate,knowledge transfer price,the cost of innovation and other factors will lead to a different enterprise’s tolerance for knowledge spillover level.When innovation success rate is low or knowledge transfer price is low,or the cost of innovation is high,cluster recession risk caused by excessive knowledge spillover is more likely to happen and vice versa.(4)Analysis the industrial cluster entropy reduction mechanism with the cluster embeddedness as the starting point.Through analysis the effects the embeddedness has on the entropy reduction mechanism,and construct the model of enterprise’s resource allocation,with the effects the embeddedness has on the resource allocation,analysis the cluster evolution results under the entropy reduction mechanism.The results show that:there is an optimal ratio of internal resource and external resource consumed by cluster enterprise.When the internal resource consumption did not reach the optimal value,embeddedness can increase enterprises’ profits by promoting the internal resource consumption.Then the competitiveness of the cluster increase.And the cluster can get a self-organizing evolution result.When the internal resource consumption achieved or exceed the optimal value,embeddedness will make enterprises over-consume resources by the judgment of non economic factors,and hinder the inflow of external resources.Then entropy reduction mechanism can not operate normally,so that the cluster lose the ability of self-organization and become recession,(5)Through the case analysis of recessionary cluster,verify the industrial cluster’s recession mechanism which is concluded above.Analysis the recession process and recession mechanism of Dongguan PC industrial cluster,Yongkang insulation cup industrial cluster and Detroit automobile industry cluster.Using the three classic cases to explain three recession modes of industrial cluster:collaboration mechanism failure caused by specialization;fluctuation mechanism failure caused by knowledge spillover;entropy reduction mechanism failure caused by cluster embeddedness.To sum up,taking the phenomenon of some clusters became recession in the course of evolution as a starting point,from the perspective of self-organization theory,this dissertation discusses the internal mechanism of industrial cluster recession,and enriches and improves the previous research method system in the field of cluster recession,and also provides a new way to prevent and solve the cluster’s recession from fountainhead.
