Atmospheric pollution has become a very important environmental issue that attracts great attention in China.Emission inventory is one of the three core technologies in atmospheric pollution control.Mobile source emissions have a large impact on air pollution in and around cities.Besides, with inventories of power plants and industries improved significantly, uncertainties of mobile source emissions have become the major contributor to overall uncertainties in emission inventories.Previous studies on mobile source emission inventories were mostly focused on estimating total amount of the pollutants emitted and the trends of them.Only few researches analyzed the spatial distributions of mobile source emissions. In the meanwhile, recent measures for motor vehicle emissions control were now finer than previous measure, with different requirements in different zones and different periods within one city.Lack of accurate temporal and spatial distribution of vehicle emission inventory would become a major obstacle for evaluating increasingly sophisticated control policies. In addtion, there is no mature methodology to evalutate the temporal and spatial distribution of vehicle emission inventories for now.In this study,we have carried out various research work on the important challenges and technical difficulties in the study of vehicle emission inventories. The greatest challenges and difficulties are the lack of calculation and verification method of spatial and temporal distributions in vehicle emission inventories.Firstly,to improve spatial distribution of inter-city vehicle emission inventory, this study collected the data of inter-city motor vehicle activity and traffic conditions and established an activitity-running condition database.Based on the database, this research developed a methodolody to bulid inter-city vehicle emission inventory named REIB method by bring ing the concenpt of road emission intensity.REIB method optimized the spatial distribution of inter-city vehicle emission inventory. The uncertainties of inventories developed by RE IB method were-24.1%to+44.7%?NOx?and-16.3%to+31.3%(PM2.5),which was significantly lower than preivious study.Secondly, this research also improved the temporal distribution of vehicle emission inventory inside the city.In this research,TRAVEL and IED models were coupled as an urban motor vehicle emission distribution model to quantify the differences in vehicular emissions during the school season/non-school season. The results showed that there was a 6-7%difference in daily emission during weekdays in school and non-school seasons of vehicle emission inventories on the city scale. In the end, this study has developed a method for evaluate and verify the vehicle emission inventory under the land use regression?LUR?framework. The new methodology developed in this research combines estimations of satellite remote sensing and the atmospheric chemical model. The research provided a possible method to verify the distribution of vehicle emission inventories. The inventory developed in this research was correalated to the variation of local NO2concentration ground measurements in Pearl River Delta under the LUR framework.
