Constructing Scene With Physical Environment,and Integrating Psychical Environment With Scenery:Research On The Construction Of Plantscape Jing In Jiangnan Literati Gardens

Plantscape refers to the scene formed by the plant elements mainly,and the image of the tourists triggered by the former scene.Plantscape Jing is an artistic conception which is fused by the objective plantscape scene and the subjective feelings of people in a given garden habitat.What is more,this artistic conception makes the appreciators obtain the sympathetic response and affection with the landscape architect through percepting,associating and imaging.The thesis takes ‘plantscape jing’ as the breakthrough point and the construction of plantscape jing as the research object,and discusses the interaction mechanism between various main and objective factors in the process of plantscape creating in Jiangnan literati gardens.By referring to the analysis method of ‘three-way interaction theory’ in literary psychology,the study divides the construction of plantscape jing into two stages: “constructing scene with physical environment” and “integrating psychical environment with scenery”,and analyzes the interaction between subject and object in two phases.,and the association between the two phases.With ‘plantscape jing’ perspective instead of ‘plantscape’,this is because the connotation of jing is richer and broader than landscape,so that the plantscape jing can incorporate the ‘habitat’ on the material level and the ‘artistic conception’ on the spiritual level into the plantscape creation system.Bsides,it can be more comprehensive to analysize the plantscape creation process and the interaction between the elements in siting,conception,construction and appreciation through investigateing the relationship and interaction between habitat and artistic conception.Firstly,based on the literature textual and concluding research method,the thesis summarizes that the plantscape aesthetic taste of Jiangnan literati gardens are comfort,interest and morality from the ancient books such as garden paintings,garden records,garden poems and proses.Secondly,the classification is based on the environment of gardening in ‘Yuanye_Sites’,combined with a large number of garden case studies,the study summarizes that the environmental characteristic of the Lake Site is high mountains,great lakes,long dikes and dotted islands;the environmental characteristic of the Moutain Site is primordial forests with moutaina and rivers around;the environmental characteristic of the Countryside Site is crisscross streams and pools closed to the cities;the environmental characteristic of the Village Site is abundant waters and fertile soil;the environmental characteristic of the City Site is bustling streets and layer-by-layer countyards.Thirdly,through on the field investigation,mapping and artistic conception experience methods,it concluded that the Lake Site has two types of typical habitats: lakes and dike islands,and their plantscape features are that the inverted images of the red lotus flowers and green lotus leaves on the waters;the Moutain Site has three types of typical habitats: mountainfoot,mountainside and mountaintop,and their plantscape features are that tall trees are laid out according to the landform of moutains;the Countryside Site has two types of typical habitats: creeks and mud banks,and their plantscape features are that peaches and willows are planted along the creeks and lotus are floated on the pool;the Village Site has two types of typical habitats: fields and ponds,and their plantscape features are green fields and lotus fields;the City Site has two types of typical habitats: countyards and rocks,and their plantscape features are that the limited plants to expressing a forest meaning.At last,through the analysis of the conception,function in different garden habitats and literature created by the shcholars of plantscape,this thesis initially divides the experience of plantscape artistic conception in Jiangnan literait gardens into three types.The first is that percepting the colour,frangrance,sound of plantscape scene,and the second is that cognizing the endless of plantscape spaces,and the third is that expressing feelings through plantscape meaning.The concept of plantscape puts Jiangnan literati garden plantscape creation process from single ‘subject-guest interaction’ to multiple levels of ‘interaction of subject and object’,‘interaction of subjects’ and ‘ interaction of objects’.The interaction between subject and object refers to the influence of the literati’s plantscape aesthetic taste on the plantscape conception,and the aesthetic experience obtained by the visitors through the interaction with the plantation.‘Interaction of objects’ refers to the impact of garden habitat conditions on plantscape arrangement,layout and other characteristics.‘Interaction of subjects’ refers to the visitors get sympathy or further sublimation with the garden home emotion through appreciating plantscape.The construction of plantscape jing is a process of superimposing a variety of objective and subjective variables.For example,the differences in garden habitat conditions make the plantscape feature different,the differences in aesthetic attitudes determine the attention of garden makers to different plantscape features,and the differences inaesthetic judgments make the same plantscape produce rich and varied artistic experience and so on.These variables are organized in different kinds and natures of dynamic relationships,affect each other in the process of the construction of plantscape jing,and work together.
