| In recent years,China has started a new round of hospital construction. However, the quality of hospital indoor design still can not match with its enormous construction quantity.Especially, there is a lack of hospital interior environment design and research from the perspective of patients, which makes the hospital become a "therapeutic machine".The dehumanized indoor environment not only undermines patients’ experience and treatment effect, but also leads to the possibility of Doctor-patient conflict and increases the "invisible" cost of hospital operation.the relationship between traditional evaluation indexes(such as environmental satisfaction)and patients’ health benefits is not clear, which makes the optimization of hospital interior environment aimless. Therefore, this study introduces the concept of stress recovery.Based on the idea of evidence-based design, this research explore the independent and interactive effects of indoor environmental factors on patients’ stress recovery, analyze their potential impact mechanism through experimental research methods.Besides that, the paper propose environmental optimization design suggestions and strategies according to the experiment results. The research will be carried out from the following three parts:The first part(Chapter 2 and 3)is the theoretical construction.Firstly, the concept and risk of stress are systematically elaborated by the research, and the importance of patients’ stress recovery in optimizating hospital interior environment is discussed from the necessity and feasibility perspectives.Besides that, this paper analyzed the general characteristics of indoor environment’s impact on patients’ stress recovery based on the relevant theories of environmental psychology, which built the theoretical basis for the follow-up investigation and experiment. After that, the research extracted five key environmental factors affecting patients’ stress recovery, and screened three types of functional space susceptible to stress response, through the methods of literature systematical analysis and focus group interview. Finally, eight key indicators of indoor environmental factors affecting the stress recovery of patients were established, which were taken as the key experimental objectives and hospital interior environment optimization aims. The second part(Chapter 4)is the experiment methodology design.Firstly, the overall experimental plan is proposed based on the experimental objectives. The corresponding experimental process and standardized experimental modules are also developed. Then, the paper puts forward the patients stress recovery’s evaluation strategy, namely "stress introduction-stress recovery-stress evaluation",and use patients’ subjective and objective index as indicators. The experimental dependent variables are refines based on the features of the patients’ stress occurrence and recovery. At last, the experimental independent variables are also refined. The research sets experimental conditions according to the experimental objectives mentioned before, the feasibility and effectiveness of virtual reality environment as the experimental scene are verified. The third part(Chapter 5 and 6)is the analysis of experimental results.First of all,the paper shows the influence of eight environmental factors(spatial enclosed level, interior color, interior decoration, scenery naturalness, environmental illumination, color temperature, sound source type and sound pressure level)on the stress recovery level of patients. The effect of patients’ individual differences were also examined. The results of the experiment and existing relevant literature are compared, and conclusions are drawn. After that,in the chapter 6,the research extracts and analysis six interaction effects of environmental factors on patients’ stress recovery. The fourth part(Chapter 7)is the application of experimental results. In the first step, this study puts forward some optimization suggestions for the key indoor environmental factors affecting patients’ stress recovery, based on the experimental results proposing ahead. Then, combined with the relevant theories and case studies, the design strategies of hospital interior environment are put forward from the holistic perspective. The main work of the study includes: shedding light on the theoretical framework, influencing factors and influencing mechanism of the hospital interior environment impacts on the patients’ stress recovery;establishing a set of standardized environmental stress recovery testing methods and corresponding evaluation indicators;analyzing the impact of hospital interior spatial element, interior features, landscape elements, lighting environment, indoor noise on patients’ physiological and psychological stress recovery;exploring the interactive effects of environmental factors on the patients’ stress recovery;proposing design suggestions and strategies to optimize the indoor environment of the hospital. The research regards to the key issue of hospital operation, which is how to improve patients’ experience and health benefits through interior environment.Patients’ stress recovery assessment provides a new perspective and method for indoor environment optimization. The results could make a supplement to the existing research of environmental psychology, and provide reference for hospital interior environment design in the future. |
