Marcel Granet(1884-1940),the third-generation French sinologist, wielded a lot of influence in the Western humanities circle. He was dedicated to sinology research, which exerted an enormous effect on Western and Japanese scholars, through anthropological perspectives and comprehensive history, based on Ancient Chinese History, stretching across science of religion and sociology, and along with folklore and mythology. However, such a pioneer, who had a great impact on Chinese folklore and mythology, was not fully understood and even misunderstood by contemporary Chinese scholars for various reasons. And the in-depth study of his works was little. In the current tide of advocating Chinese traditional culture and classics towards overseas, reflecting Western scholars' research of Chinese culture and classics, the project on Granet's study of Shijing is more urgent. This article comprehensively collects and precisely translates all the details of Granet's life and all the works of the study of Shijing, and tries to demonstrate the full content of his study of Shijing, concerning the origination, translation method and research contents of the study Shijing.Through combing a large number of first-hand documents, this article intended to demonstrate Granet's learning process and his inherited Chinese and Western academic traditions, including sinology, history, religion, sociology, and folklore.Additionally, this article applied Granet's academic methods into the Western modern academic environment to clear out some of the misunderstandings of the academy to him,and tried to explain why he made such a question as the origin of Chinese civilization, why poetry, mythology, marriage, rituals and other folk matters were worth such a concern and discussion, and why he would make mistakes which seemed avoidable currently, thus having a more objective understanding of Granet, along with the status and significance of his classics in the Chinese and Western history of the study of Shijing.
