Zhang Huiyan's academic achievement is magnificent. He is a famous scholar on Yi-ology,as well as a poet, essayist and calligrapher of the Qian-jia school. In th field of Confucian classics,he is e expert in "Yi-ology" and "Rites“.In the field of Yi-ology,He is specialized in Yu fan, especially active in promoting "Yin-Yang transformation"theory. He also integrated Zheng Xuan,Xun Shuang's point of view to write a book of nine volumes_Yu Fan's Yi-ology,which was praised by many scholars of his time.Hui Dong,Jiao Xun and Zhang Huiyan were referred as the "the three most important experts on Yi-ology in the Qian-jia period".In the field of "Rite",he wrote two books_the Rite Maps and Reading Notes on Rite.Particularly, the first book was praised by many scholars, and became an important book in the study on rites of the Qing dynasty.Zhang Huiyan believed that Yu Fan's Yi-ology can be summarized into"Yin-Yang transformation" theory. He illustrated the theory particularly. On this basis,he clarified not only the role of "human activity" and "courtesy and rites" in the perspective of "Yin-Yang transformation",but also integrated Zheng Xuan,Xun Shuang under the view of "Yin-Yang transformation " By this, his "Yin-Yang transformation" system is more extensive, and at the same time, greatly promoted the development of image-number Yi-ology.The introduction mainly discusses the present academic research on Zhang Huiyan, including the research methods. His achievements have been recognized from three aspects:the study of Confucian classics, literary studies and comprehensive studies. In particular, his achievements have been concentrated on"literature research",while the "study of Confucian classics" is relatively lack.In the Confucian classics, the "study of Yi-ology" has been increasing every year, but the speed is slow, and the "study of Rites,is rare every year. The idea of this paper is to investigate the Zhang's academic background, from the academic environment of Qing Dynasty to the period of the Yi-ology of”Pu Xue”,and from the Yi-ology of "PU Xue" focusing on the Yi-ology of Zhang Huiyan. The core of this article is to expound his theory of "Yin-Yang transformation".He integrated not only human activity, rites, and politics, but also Zheng and Xun's Yi-ology.The research methods used in this paper as follow:the method of the unification of history and logic, the method of the demonstration of documents and historical materials, and the methods of comparative study and hermeneutics. The first chapter mainly discusses the academic background of Zhang from the academic environment of Qing Dynasty to the period of "Pu Xue",and from the Yi-ology of "Puxue" focusing on the Yi-ology of Zhang Huiyan. This will give us a more comprehensive understanding of the academic background.Zhang Huiyan lived in the period of Qian Long and Jia Qing emperors during the heyday of Qing dynasty. However, the prosperity is based on the "Renaissance" of classics. In order to have a better understanding on Zhang Huiyan academic background, this paper takes the"academic atmosphere" and "the development of Yi-ology" as the core, and also discusses the "the enlightenment period of Qing Dynasty" and "Qian-jia period" of different development. The second chapter discusses Zhang Huiyan's life experience, the academic origin and the writings of Confucian classics. The article expounds the development of Zhang Huiyan's Confucianism and his life. For his academic origin, the article argues that his academic work has benefited from many teachers and friends. The main teachers include Zhu Gui,Ruan Yuan,Jin Bang etc.His friends, including Wang Zhuo,Yun Jing and Wu Dexuan, persuade him to learn the Chinese classics. With the help of those teachers and friends,Zhang made great academic achievements in Confucius classics. In his masterpieces,he summarized the different editions of books and their circulation. The third chapter mainly discusses the essence of natural Yin-Yang transformation_the noumenon and function of "Tai Chi".He tried to give an interpretation of "tai chi" ontology. From the natural aspect,it is "vitality",and from the aspect of Yi-ology,it is "Qian-yuan"_which is the basis of sixty-four Hexagrams. The role of "Tai Chi" is mainly manifested in "Na-Jia and Gua Qi".Zhang Huiyan believes that "Tai Chi" is invisible,so it was referred to as "the North Star".The activity of Tai Chi is referred to the movement of the sun and the moon. The movement of the sun and the moon results the four seasons, the formation of twenty-four solar terms and seventy-two climates. These are all the phenomena resulting from the movement of "Tai Chi".Therefore, the "Yin-Yang transformation"in change of the moon is called "Na-jia".The natural change of the four seasons,twenty-four solar terms and seventy-two climates formed by the moon movement is"Gua Qi".This paper traces the process of the development of the "Na-Jia" and the theory of "Gua Qi" in the history of the Yi-ology of "image-number Yi-ology",and further elaborates how Zhang Huiyan interprets the two theories from the perspective of "Yin-Yang transformation".The fourth chapter mainly discusses the information of Yi-ology on the aspect of eight Hexagrams and the sixty-four Hexagrams.Zhang Huiyan believed that the development of the Eight Hexagrams in the Yin-Yang transformation is based on nature. Therefore, the sage deduces the Eight Hexagrams of Yi-ology in terms of natural objects, and at the same time, according to the "reference to the principle of interdependence between heaven and earth",Develop three hexagrams to six hexagrams, thus forming six paintings of "the Eight Hexagrams".The development of sixty-four hexagram mainly includes three aspects:the treatment of Yu Fan's violation, the deconstruction of "Yin-Yang transformation" body and certification. The treatment of violation emphasizes the beginning of the "Transformation".In order to further analyze the foundation and theoretical particularity of Zhang Huiyan's "Transformation",this article quotes Li Tingzhi's "opposition" system of hexagrams and Pan Yu-ting's "bypassing" system as reference. It also highlights Zhang Huiyan's "Transformation" to explain "violation",analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of these three systems, and refers the violation as the process of the formation of "Transformation".In the part of deconstruction of "Transformation",the "Transformation" system integrates Yu Fan's interpretation of the classic methods, and the main part is based on the guidelines of "Na Jia and Bi Gua","Opposition" and "Bypass".Together with other hexagram transformation examples,(excepting "the interchange of two-image"),all of these are included in the"Transformation " system. The part of "System Certificate" focuses on how to apply the system of "Transformation" into use,how to explain the sixteen "illegal"hexagrams and how to build the whole "fragmented" Yu Fan's system into a complete system.Through the discussion of these issues,we will have a deeper understanding of Zhang Huiyan's "Transformation"."The losing image" is a way to increase the number of images, such as by-pass,opposition,the change of hexagrams, the movement of Yin and Yang and Na-Jia.The fifth chapter discusses the various images in the process of "Transformation" and"the stable and perfect situation".To increase of hexagrams includes two ways:"Create images by images" and "Create images from outside the image"." Create images from outside the image" mainly rely on the change of hexagrams to increase the number of images, such as bypass, opposition, the change of hexagrams, the movement of Yin and Yang and Na-Jia.This section mainly interprets the change of hexagrams, move to a proper seat,Hu-ti,half-image,etc.from the perspective of"Transformation" to explain why "the interchange of two-image" do not included in the connotation of "Transformation"."Create images with images" mainly refers to the Confucians in Han dynasty who deduce a lot of hexagrams according to classics, also known as "the Losing Image".The book collected by Zhang Hui-yan contains 456 losing images, together with other people's comments,we can fully grasp his meaning. The final hexagram will change to "the stable and perfect situation".The hexagrams are all in right situation,it shows the harmony between the Yin and Yang.In this situation, the world is peaceful. This article compares Yu Fan and Zhang Huiyan' s theory on " the stable and perfect situation".Furthermore, this article discusses the connotation of Zhang Huiyan's " the stable and perfect situation".The sixth chapter integrates the content of "Transformation" into human activity, the courtesy and the climate.First,Zhang Huiyan explained "Transformation" from the perspective of human activity, and writes the book_the Yin-Yang in Human Activity. He focuses on the "internal saints and external kings",and also explores the gentleman, the etiquette etc.Secondly,he tries to use "Transformation" and etiquette to interpret each other, and writes the book Rites and Yi-ology,which interprets many "etiquette" and assigns its own comment, thus finding the basis of for etiquette. This part can be summed up from seven aspects, including "the five most important rites",the "nomination rite",and the "rites for punishment and award".In this way,we can have a relatively complete understanding on his "rites theory".Finally,Zhang Huiyan analyzed "Seventy-two climatesl" from the aspect of"Transformation".He explained natural phenomena and hexagrams into the use of human affairs, thus further improving the study of Yu fan's yi-ology.The seventh chapter mainly discusses Zheng Xuan and Xun Shuang' s Yi-ology under the sight of "Transformation".Zhang Huiyan thought that Zheng,Xun and Yu as one kind of Yi-ology,though their functions are different, the "Transformation" is the same. From this point of view,he tried to integrate the three academics, mainly discussing Yu Fan's Yi-ology,and assisted by Zheng and Xun.He interprets the theory of "Yao-chen" and "Yi-shu" from the perspective of "Transformation",and also Zheng's "Rites".This essay discusses the theory of ritual in four aspects:"Ji,Jia,Jun and Bin".Finally,he summed up Zheng Xuan's "hexagram image",such as "San Cai Liu Wei",the position, the middle, the cooperation, and so on.Zhang Hui-yan interpreted Xun Shuang's "Qian Sheng Kun Jiang" from the perspective of"Transofrmation" and discussed his thought of hexagrams change based on it.Meanwhile, this article also discusses the meanings of "Cai-guan" and "Shi-fu".Finally,the eighth chapter made an evaluation of Zhang Huiyan's Yi-ology.Zhang's Yi-ology was evaluated from six aspects.Although some of his academic thoughts did not come together, the Yi-ology of "image-number" is greatly promoted by his collation and extensive display of Yu Fan's Yi-ology.
