Based on a great deal of literature reading and relative data and information collecting from Weijin to Qing dynasty,this paper discusses the evolution and dissemination of the Shuyi literature.The main body is divided into six chapters:The first chapter introduces the Shuyi books written by literati from Weijin to Tang dynasty.The first section outlines the origins and social background of the literature.Because most of the literature in Wei-Jin period has disappeared,we can inspect the Shuyi literature based on records of official dynastic histories.The available is the series of Yueyi.The rise of Shuyi books due to the aristocratic families in Wei-Jin period who advocated the manners and promoted etiquette.The second section analyzes the change of the Shuyi in Tang dynasty based on the Dunhuang manuscripts and the examples of letter writing in the Tang dynasty to illustrate the features of Shuyi and the habits of people's letter-writing.The second chapter mainly introduces the Shuyi in Song dynasty.The first and second sections introduce the wengong suyi and zhuzi jiali and the influence of them on the later generations.Both wengong shuyi and zhuzi jiali pay more attention to the elaboration of etiquette and simplify the specific letter 's pattern.The third section mainly introduces the fade-away of the traditional Shuyi.Due to the change of social structure and imperial examination system,the aristocratic families began to dissolve.Meanwhile clan system and folk regulations in song dynasty were advocated by neo-confucianism.The aristocratic Shuyi diminished.The third chapter describes the rise and evolution about the daily-used encyclopedias.The real popular daily books came out in Southern Song dynasty.shilin guangji lists a number of daily life materials and a lot of illustrations.All the elements of letter are defined in the work jujia biyong shilei quanji.The second section gives an account of daily-used letter-writing guidebooks represented by hanmo quanshu.The discussion about letter-writing is the key part of this kind of books,which classify the usages of letter-writing according to different life scenes,list the items,and the related poems,letters are also added.The fourth chapter introduces the Shuyi during the Ming and Qing dynasties.The first section introduces the spread of the daily-used encyclopedias,letter-writing guidebooks,as well as the letter collection written by literati.The popularity of the daily-used books got spread due to the development of economy,the fusion of class stratus,as well as the implementation of the Shexue and Xiangxue.The popularization of fundamental education increases cultural needs.The second section introduces the printing characteristics of daily books during the Ming and Qing dynasties.Take Yu Xiangdou as a case study to illustrate publishers' dual identities of merchants and literati.Besides,the rising popularity of printing provides literati with other choices except for political career.The fifth chapter introduces the users of the daily books.The first section introduces the characteristics of Shuyi for businessmen.The second section introduces Shuyi for women.The sixth chapter analyses the dissemination of the Shuyi literature in the east Asian region.The first section introduces the dissemination of Wushan lianruo xinxue beiyong written by the Buddhist Yingzhi in the ancient Korea,the Confucian tendency in Korea dynasty,the spread of zhuzi jiali in Korea and the combination with the practical situation by Korean scholars to paraphrase Zhuxi's rules about ceremony..The second section introduces the circulation of Shuyi in Japan that were taken back to Japan mainly by monks.Some books were sold to Japan by businessmen and then reprinted by Japanese.
