Lexical Studies On Nongzheng Quanshu

The Ming Dynasty is the core period of modern Chinese language.Zheng He′s voyages to the western seas and the western missionaries coming to China,all these activities promote Chinese economic and cultural exchanges with Asian,African and European countries.The Chinese language,especially the vocabularies rapidly developed in the trend of oral language development in the Yuan and Ming Dynasty.The Nongzheng Quanshu(农政全书)which was written by Xu Guangqi is one of the agriculture works which has the most abundant information before 17th century.There are many new words and oral vocabularies in this book,so it becomes the valuable materials to linguistic researching.This essay is the first comprehensive study on the vocabularies of Nongzheng Quanshu.(农政全书)Firstly,this paper describes the most distinctive elements of the vocabularies,these include:agricultural professional terminology,proverbs(agricultural proverbs and meteorological proverbs),new words and loanwords.Secondly,theoretically research on these vocabularies above-mentioned.1.Research on the agricultural words,investigate the interrelation between agricultural terminology and the national common language.2.Research on the proverbs which has national features,compare with the proverbs of Qimin Yaoshu(齐民要术)written by Jia Sixie.3.To determine the new words and the loanwords,discuss the origin,formation and genre of the new words.4.Research on the synonym of the Nongzheng Quanshu.(农政全书)Finally,to determine the position of the vocabularies in the history of Chinese,discuss the affect about the research on Chinese vocabulary history and dictionary compilation.
