The Chinese Academy is a cultural education organization with a relatively unique and complete system in China.Although the Chinese Academy was not created from the Confucius era,its cultural spirit can be traced back to the Confucius era in Chinese history,and in its one thousand years of history,it has been adapted to the development of the times in the mind and practice.Its inheritance and innovation are China's precious traditional cultural resources.Modemization research is considered to be the focus of research in the fields of humanities and social sciences.Cultural modernization is considered to be the most extensive,most complex and deepest process of change in modernization.This thesis analyzes the Chinese academy,a carrier rich in Chinese cultural elements and cultural genes,from the perspective of cultural modernization,helping us to understand more deeply the continuation and renewal of Chinese cultural education organizations in the long history of China,the theory and practice between inheritance and innovation,understand the process of modernization and cultural modernization of Chinese academies,and seek some inspiration for China's modernization and future development.This thesis puts the cultural traditions of Chinese academies,the reform of modern Chinese academies,the changes and transformation of modesrn Chinese academies,the competition and surpassing in modernization among Chinese academies,the characteristics and problems,and the future development in the vision of cultural modernization.The focus is on analyzing China about its cultural traditions of the academy culture in different eras,the response and changes facing the impact of foreign cultures and the latest development of contemporary academy modernization,in order to observe the inheritance and development of Chinese academy tradition,history and culture under the characteristics of cultural modernization.This article regards "tradition" and "modernity" as a set of cross-referenced concepts.It believes that as a form of cultural education organization and with Confucian culture as the main body,Chinese academy reflects the cultural modernization of China from enlightenment to continuous renewal and transformation,as well as the inclusiveness in the process of historical development,which has the tradition of inheritance and innovation in the distinct cultural process.This thesis uses the interpretation framework of China's modernization and believes that in the historical process of cultural modernization,the Chinese academy has changed from "traditional" to "modern",reflecting the modernization process of Chinese culture.Looking back at the recent changes in the modern society,the most prominent characterization is the cultural impact of Western learning and the renewal and reconstruction of Chinese culture.Although in Chinese history and culture,the exchanges and dialogues between Chinese and foreign cultures have been ongoing.In the rational thinking and reference,the cultural integration of Chinese academies has also yielded fruitful results.However,by the time of the Ming and Qing Dynasties,the cultural collision under the global pattern had really begun.Under the cannon of the Opium War,the confidence of cultural subjects was affected.The Chinese culture represented by the Chinese academy has played an inclusive and innovative role,constantly seeking change in the adversity of Chinese and foreign cultural exchanges,and exploring the renewal and reconstruction of the Chinese culture.Even in the context of the vacillation between the westernization and modernization of culture and even the total westernization,the Chinese academy has undergone a holistic restructuring and still exists as a carrier of the Chinese cultural spirit in the form of Chinese cultural symbols.Though unfinished,the transformation of moderrn culture also provides an attempt and practice for China's modern exploration and modernization.This thesis focuses on the main theme of "tradition and modernity","West and China" in the process of Chinese cultural modernization,taking the contemporary Chinese academy as the research object,and proposes that the contemporary renaissance of Chinese academies can be regarded as one of the latest characterizations of cultural modernization.After the foundation of the People's Republic of China,especially after the 1980s,with the deepening of modernization and post-modern issues,the Chinese contemporary academy re-emerged.This thesis sorts out the process of exploration and practice of contemporary academy modernization,and finds that from the cultural consciousness of intellectuals,the enthusiasm of civil society,to the official affirmation,contemporary academies present a multi-subjective promotion,paying attention to cultural inheritance,transformation,and many other characteristics of transformation in the modernization of the academy.However,there are also many problems.Taking Xiamen Yundang Academy,a representative of the modern academy,as an example,this thesis focuses on the analysis of the modern Chinese academic activities,the operation management system,modernization characteristics and further reflections on the modernization of contemporary academy.Finally,in the context of globalization,national modernization and cultural self-confidence,the thesis reflects on how contemporary Chinese academies adapt to the contemporary Chinese culture,how to coordinate with modern society,how Chinese academies truly become in modem society the symbol of the revival and modern transformation of the remarkable Chinese traditional culture,with more consideration of the modernization of contemporary Chinese culture,society,and state governance.Through the comparative analysis of the "traditional" and "modern" and "China"and "Western"culture of Chinese academy on the basis of abundant historical research,contemporary practice research,interviews and reflections,this long thesis applies for the first time the relevant systematic theories of cultural modernization for the academic research on Chinese academies.The topic selection and research methods of this thesis have certain innovations,have important academic value and research significance,and have strong social and practical significance.This thesis expects to use the research of the Chinese academy to guide the theoretical enlightenment and practice on all aspects of the ongoing cultural inheritance and innovation.
