Narrative,which is also called "storytelling" in common sense,has been existed in human's moral education activities for a long time.Consequently,it becomes the tradition of moral education.Till then,narrative is still favored and used frequently by moral educators.However,the current thinking and practice about narrative have always been confined into "story" concept,which is reflected in taking narrative into story category and understanding it with the story thinking.This concept not only narrows our understanding of narrative in moral education,but also brings too much limitations for narrative's research and practice,which at last causes narrative to be mechanical and one-sided in human's moral education.What is more serious is that the narrative practice directed by this "story" concept may also have some probabilities in hurting moral education and human's nature.With the great changes of philosophical ideas into "man" and human's"life-world",education also starts to come back human's life."Man" has been established as a subject in moral education,at the same time,the narrative ethical issues centered on "man" have also been put forward.With the influence of this macro background and the changed concept,some new narrative researches which have already beyond the "story" concept begin to appear."Life narrative" and "life-moral education narrative" are two good explorations,they both turn the perspective from "story" to "man",which has offer the possibility for narrative to seek new perspectives and research spaces.However,after putting forward "man",this two explorations haven't made a fundamental thinking of the relationship between "man" and narrative,this finally leads them to be that "story" concept narrative.From the perspective of "existentialism",narrative is considered not to be mere story or story-telling,but a way of people's existence,that means,people are narrative existence.The three elements of narrative are narrator,story and narratee.Narrative should be accurately understood as a dialogical interaction between narrator and narratee,as well as the process of obtaining meaning.Life is the main area to connect morality and narrative,the way of narrative to achieve to people's meaning world is by people's interaction within time-space in narrative activities.In the end,the meaning people got from narrative would be related to people's moral existence because of narrative's practicality.Form the perspective of"existentialism",life is the base,reason and purpose of morality,people's morality is growing from the people's pursing of life's meaning,that is also the seeking of better,more meaningful and more worthwhile life.Therefore,the relationship between narrative and people's value world is not by the ethical values of stories but exists wholly in the process of pursing life's meaning between narrator and narratee.And this process will also dynamically reconstruct human ethical life and moral-self.Based on these analysis,moral education narrative would got new understanding and practice.It should treat people's moral development as a dynamic,holistic,multidimensional and meaning-generated process which integrates individual experience life.And it also should unity people's narrative and moral education together,and establish the backing of people's overall life as moral education narrative's fundamental goal.Life,narrative and moral development are integrated into one,they interact,construct and impel each other.Rebuilding the new narrative idea will create many more possibilities of narrative research and practice.In the research part,we should got some changes in perspective,frame,content and practical thinking for obtaining more ideas and broad research space;in the narrative practice part,moral education should got some adjustment in status,nature,content,form and educational relationships for obtaining new practical performances.
