Study On Early 20th Century Western Style Painting Activities At Shanghai Laoximen

Based on the western style painting activities in the early 20th century over the Shanghai Laoximen area,through exploring the events in Laoximen,this paper analyzes three problems,including the western style painting education,social communication and exhibition dissemination by the explanation of historical environment and vital events.What's more,apart from exploring how those three problems formed,developed and changed,this paper also analyzes the relationship between artistic activities and urban space and ecological issues.Starting from the historical documents,combining with the sociological research methods in term of the art culture zone,this paper,on the one hand,can supplement relevant art historical reflections in this region;on the other hand,this paper can also expand the existing research on modern art and the moderm Shanghai regional studies.In chapter One,Laoximen and Shanghai Modern Western Style Painting Movement.The first section analyzes the regional features and characteristics in Shanghai Laoximen area from the aspects of geography,space,politics,economy and culture,and its relationship with Shanghai western style painting movement.The second section analyzes the phenomenon of aggregation and clustering effect of art groups in this area.The third section generalizes the western style painting activities by the art groups in that region.In chapter two,The Diversification of Western Style Painting Education.Western style painting education in this area is composed of school's specialized education and society's amateur education.In the first section,taking the western style painter Cai Qianji as example,this paper explores how western style painting teaching in institutions such as Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts practiced and developed sketching methods from relevant documents.The second section sorts out the educational activities of western painting society in Laoximen area.In the third section,taking Yiyuan as example,this paper analyzes how the society carried out western style painting research education.In chapter three,the main content for this part is the structure of the artists gathered in Laoximen area,the friendship networks of that art group and the activities' contents and methods.The first section analyzes what friendship networks the western style artists used in the Laoximen area to take part in social activities.In the second section,from the perspective of geographic space,this paper analyzes what ways the western style painter groups used to communicate with each other,and of course,what venues were used for communication.In the third section,taking Chen Chengpo as example,in term of literature analysis this paper explores how he got involved with other artists in the period of Yiyuan Painting Research InstituteIn chapter four,mainly focuses on the western painting exhibitions and related socialization dissemination,discussing the aesthetic functions of art exhibitions for the society.In the first section,taking Tianmahui Exhibition as example,this paper analyzes its exhibition mechanism with modern significance and its impact on later exhibitions.The second section,thorough explaining the main content of art exhibitions in Art Week and Art Gallery,discusses the artistic styles presented in the art exhibitions and the role of the art exhibitions in the social art education.In the third section,this paper mainly analyzes the influence of craft product industry in Mali Craft Factory and Jincheng Craft Club on the western style painting movement,as well as examining the relationship between western style painting activities and natural ecology.In chapter five,the paper's content in this part is centered on the art resources in urban development.The first section examines the schools and associations which the art resources in Laoximen area converge on.The second section analyzes the current status of art resources in Laoximen area,including the state of protection,research and utilization.In the third section,this paper thinks about how to protect and transform art resources and find effective ways,as well as exploring its significance for urban development and construction.
