This dissertation takes the Sui and Tang Dynasties as the main dynasties and the musicians from the Western Regions as the main research objects.Focusing on the countries,tribes,families and individual musicians respectively,relying on the vocalmusic,instrumental music,theory,composition,dance and other genres,to discuss their sources and costitutions in history,types and forms in music.Through the introduction of geography,appearance,in addition to costume,we shall investigate the general characteristics of the people from Western Regions.By meansof combining with plucked instruments,pipe instruments,percussion instruments and Hu Teng dance,Hu Xuan dance as well as Zhe Zhi dance,to state the talents of musicians.On the basis of the significance to the development of music,the influence on Western Region music,secular music and court music along with their contributions to the multiple literature and arts,the position and role of musicians in Western Regions are revealed.Because of the continuity of the times and the inheritance of artists since the Northern Zhou Dynasty,there have been frequently two-way communications and exchanges between the musicians from the Western Regions and local court,civilian musicians in the city together with foreign musicians in the neighboring countries.A variety of art forms are closely linked.This paper uses the research methods of Chinese ancient musical history,Classical Philology and Iconology to analyze the phenomenon of musicians from the Western Regions entering China and explain the reason why they flourished.In the form ofpicture,text and date table,this dissertation supports the arguments of numerous artists,moreover,probes deeply into the fusion ofmajority music forms together with comprehensive literature and arts. |
