Han Dynasty- Western Regions communication has ever been exercising an essential influence on C hina ’s and even the world histories. China’s initiatives of the Silk Road Economic Belt are bringing the research on the Western Regions and the Silk Road a brandnew mission. The translation takes Huang Wenbi’s historical and archaeological works as source text, on which the translation report is also based.Under the framework of Skopos theory, the report analyzed the source text from such perspectives as words, sentences, and paragraphs with the guidance of skopos rule, coherence rule, and fidelity rule. According to various situations, methods of equivalence, explanation, and omission are adopted to settle the terms concerned with titles and names of ancient places and workmanships. Long sentences and paragraphs are sometimes divided into smaller units if the contexts and logic allow. The report consists of five parts. The first part introduces the source, type, and characteristics of the source text as well as the significance of this translation task. The second part is around preparation for translation and stages of the translation. The third demonstrates Skopos theory. The following focuses the problems and available strategies while translating. And the final part is a summary and reflection on the translation.
