Akira Nishimura(1953-)is one of the most important Japanese contemporary composer.His works are generally based on Japanese culture but also represent broaden Asian style.His compositional techniques combined heterophony of Asian traditional music with various kinds of sound mass techniques and therefore,formed unique music language mainly featured by heterophony texture.In additional,it was his belief that supported him the most on his composition way-the deep thinking of cultural transformation in Japan,or even among general Asian countries.This dissertation research on compositional techniques and music style of Nishimura’s works,and be divided into five chapters.For the first chapter,it analysis the activities of Japanese modern composers,and navigating Nishimura’s location,then explores deeper on his music style and aesthetic concept based on four phases from germination period,groMth period,exploration period to mature period.The second chapter observes and analysis pitch organization and sound mass techniques that were widely been found in his work.Chapter 3-5 did comprehensive analysis aimed at three representative works in different periods and concluded the special features that was shown in his works.It is a question without any doubt for contemporary composers that how they can show the extensiveness and inclusiveness from their works in our globalized world today.This dissertation tries to summary an answer from Nishimura’s works for future researchers. |
