The thesis was focus on the later development of sonata form--the most important musical structure that prevails in the last period of Western common practice.Sonata form was originally based on "pure,music within which strict tonal layout and rational structural logic are engaged.In the late Romantic Period,however,when composer's personality had been tremendously incouraged,how did they deal with the new style in symphonic genre?After analyzing dozens of symphonic works around late 19th century-early 20th century,I finally selected the most representative ones and carried out an interpretation in a way of ucase analysis9'.In this thesis,symphonic-sonata movements of late Romantic Period were divided into two basic categories of"teological sense" and "anti-teological sense",within which the romantic aesthetics and early modernism ideas was explored.
