This paper takes the Qin Tombs,Jin Tombs and Chu Tombs for different genders in Eastern Zhou period as the research object,then discusses the social status and economic strength of men and women from different classes and of different ages,as well as the way they would acquire their social status and economic strength,and finally elaborates the related issues based on historical documents.The main body of this paper is divided into eight chapters.Chapter 1 introduces the history and current situation of gender archaeological research,summarizes the findings and deficiencies of previous researches,and thereby puts forward the research goals and ideas of this paper.Chapter 2 sets out the basic research framework and main research methods.Based on the previous research results in the academic circles,in consideration of the research goals,this paper divides the tombs into three categories: bronze ware tombs,imitation bronze ware tombs and daily pottery tombs.At the same time,according to this paper,the tombs of Eastern Zhou period have gone through three phases of development,namely the incubation phase,establishment and development phase,and transition phase of the Qin,Jin and Chu cultures.In addition,the part also explains the research methods of the paper.Chapter 3,Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 act as the basic research on tombs of Qin culture,Jin culture and Chu culture,respectively.Firstly,this part makes quantitative analysis of three elements,including the tomb volume,funeral supplies,and burial objects,in different types of tombs for men and women in different cultures.Secondly,the three chapters carry out the qualification and grouping of the data of the above three elements,and comprehensively investigate the workforce consumed by the tombs for men and women.Finally,by identifying the social status of the tomb owners during their lifetime,and contrasting such social status with the consumption of workforce reflected by the various elements of the tombs,this part also explores the relationship between the social status and economic strength indicated in the tombs for two genders.Chapter 6 describes the way of acquiring social status and economic strength.According to the comparison between the burial tools and weapons in the tombs for men and women as well as comparison between the workforce consumed by the tombs owned by person of different ages,this chapter investigates how the male tomb owners and female tomb owners acquire their social status and economic strength in different cultures.Chapter 7 expounds the study of related issues.It mainly includes two aspects: the study of women's and men's age at death in different types of tombs in different cultures;the discussion of the social status and economic strength of underage men and women and how they obtained their social status and economic strength.Chapter 8 concludes the similarities and differences of social status and economic strength between the male tomb owners and female tomb owners reflected in the tombs of Qin culture,Jin culture and Chu culture,and interpret the reasons for this similarities and differences.
