The areas of Jangling is the center of Chu in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty.Numerous bronze wares were found in this area so far. Scholars have also conducted a lot of research for that, and most of them focused on the bronze ritual but less concerned about the bronze weapons though they are very common in the Chu tombs this area.So the writer would see the bronze weapons that were discovered in the area of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty of the Chu tombs as the research object and build the evolution sequence of various bronze weapons, then discuss the weapons'combination, function, exchange and integration with culture of surrounding areas. There are 6 parts in the full text. The first part is the introduction of the paper. In this part the first we do is to define the spatial and temporal scope of this study and the object. Then we formulated the background of the study and the achievement of the bronze weapons study in the area of Jiangling. At last, we pointed out the research ideas, the features and the innovation of this paper. In the second part:I briefly introduce the excavation of the bronze weapons and the time of them.Giving comprehensive introduction of bronze weapons excavated from Chu tombs of the Eastern Zhou Period in Jiangling area. Making a resonable judgement to tombs and the bronze weapons from them. Referring to the archaeological excavation report, archaeological excavation reports and research results for the time of related relic and remains, all these would provide relatively accurate document for the next related research. The third part:the typology analysis of the unearthed bronze weapons.Making a analysis of typology to the bronze weapons from Chu tombs of Eastern Zhou in this area. Concluding the change regulation of different kinds of weapons. The forth part:the installment of the unearthed bronze weapons.According to the change of shape and the combination of the different ways, the bronze weapons from Chu State in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty were divided into four period, that is, the early Spring and Autumn period; the middle of the Spring and Autumn period; the lately Spring and autumn to the early Warring States period; the middle Warring States to the earlier stage of the late Warring States Period. The fifth part:mainly studied the combination of excavated bronze weapons. Based on time axis, I analysed the bronze weapons'combination and the quantitative differences in different kind of weapons' combination of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty tombs in this area (Those tombs were scientificly excavated and have not been disturbed by grave robbers). And then I discussed the relationship between the different weapons combination with the different identities of the owners in tombs.Through analysis the problem which we have discussed above, we get the pattern that the bronze swords and the bronze daggers were in the same status in the combination of the bronze weapons in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty tombs. There are totally four combination patterns with the bronze weapons excavated in tombs and the common combination patterns are sword, dagger and arrowhead, sword and dagger, single sword, single dagger. The mainstream included two categories——sword and dagger. In addition, the tomb 'owners' identity will be in the higher ranks with the weapons combination pattern included shu. In the sixth part:Related Questions StudyFirstly, based on the analysis of the shapes of weapons, combined with the identity, rank of the tombs and weapons' location in the tombs,I analyzed about the part of the nearly desperate weapons and long-range weapons that possess combat capabilities and other functions. Secondly, this area will be compared with SanJin LiangZhou, Yan, Qin, Bashu, Wuyue and Lingnan area in common shape or ornamentation on the bronze weapons and I find there is more or less culture communication between this area and these areas mentioned above. And I try to probe the cultural interaction background reflected by the generality of these common weapons with historical documents. In the seventh part is the epilogue. We conclude this paper and pointed out the deficiencies.
