In the Japanese colonial period,Japanese colonialists carried out the research activities on Chinese dialects in order to further implement the policy of language assimilation in Taiwan.The investigation of Hokkien(Minnan dialect)in Taiwan was the focus of the study.During this period,a series of Japanese-Hokkien dictionaries published by"The Taiwan Governor's Office"have been the main results of the research.This paper tries to analysis the phonetic systems of the dictionaries in the early Japanese colonial period(1895-1919),so as to further grasp the development model of Sound Change in Hokkien in Taiwan. |
