There are quite a number of articles on Lu Xun and the “new woodcut”movement and these articles constitute the compilation of this history.Many issues have been obscured or overlooked as a result of the codification of these articles.This paper,based on Lu Xun's literary narration and literary Enlightenment,places Lu Xun's words and actions in the same time,and looks back to the beginning of the movement of Lu Xun's contact with “new woodcut ”.By using the method of material analysis and image interpretation,this paper finds out the relation between the new woodcut and Lu Xun's literary narration and literary enlightenment thought.This paper analyzes the relation between the “new woodcut ” and its narration and enlightenment,and the practice of Lu Xun advocating “new woodcut ” open a new perspective of the study of Lu Xun and new woodcut '.Lu Xun's "consciousness" during his stay in Japan first manifested itself in his literary narration.It uses the vernacular to narrate,and emphasizes the narrative characteristic of the subject-predicate structure in the narration is the embodiment of“consciousness”.The appearance of this kind of narration also makes Lu Xun's writing fully show his self-consciousness and individuality as the author.The narrative nature of this literature is also the bridge of the writer Lu Xun's interpretation of the western printmaking,and it has become one of the important standards of Lu Xun's choice of the western woodblock prints,as well as Lu Xun's important requirements for the “emerging woodcut”.Another characteristic of Lu Xun's "self-consciousness" is the germination of Enlightenment consciousness.After that,the maturity of image initiation has a direct influence on Lu Xun's choice of Western printmaking and the ultimate requirement of “new woodcut ”.The image requirement of “beauty of force” must be built on the basis of independent expression of images,and the “War call” of the images issued on this basis constitutes the “new front ” of Lu Xun's “cry”.The analysis results show that narration and enlightenment are related to the whole story of Lu Xun's advocacy of “new wood carving ”,all of which are formed by Lu Xun's ideas of art.The establishment of this relationship and the analysis of Lu Xun's unique understanding of “art ” it can answer Lu Xun's attitude to Chinese traditional woodcut “as a reprieve ” and postpone the introduction of Japanese float painting in the movement of “new woodcut ”,and also revealed Lu Xun's choice of Western Expressionism woodcut as the source of “new woodcut ”.Narration and enlightenment are the essential relationship between Lu Xun and "new woodcut",and also the essence of "new woodcut".
