Research On Honneth's Theory Of Freedom

Honneth is a famous contemporary German philosopher,sociologist and the third generation core figure of the Frankfurt School.His theoretical research focuses on criticizing capitalist society with interdisciplinary and comprehensive research methods,and is in the intersection of philosophy,ethics,political science and sociology,which makes his critical theory embody unique theoretical characteristics.Honneth's early "recognition theory" opened a new field of vision of the critical theory of the Frankfurt School.He re-examined the process of social and historical development from of law and starting from the relationship of communication and recognition between subjects,he regards the realization of social freedom as the prerequisite for the principle of social justice.This background and theoretical origin of Honneth's freedom theory.In view of the worldwide turbulence and other objective historical factors,the search for human dignity and the affirmation of intrinsic value have gradually become the inherent requirements of social justice in the new historical period.Honneth's attention to political ethics and freedom not only inherits the social critical tradition of the Frankfurt School,but also is inspired by the revival of contemporary political philosophy and critically reflects on the theoretical limitations of Kant and Rawls formalism.Honneth is determined to return to the theoretical path of Hegel's philosophy of law and to provide a theoretical answer in line with the requirements of the times to explore the conditions and mechanisms for the realization of social freedom.Through the investigation of the construction path of freedom theory in Honneth's new field of vision,starting with the change of critical theme and theoretical form concerned by Honneth,this paper probes into the construction of freedom theory with normative content based on recognition paradigm,and then makes an in-depth study of the content and structure of social freedom theory,and finally evaluates its historical status and practical significance on the basis of Honneth's transcendence of Habermas' communicative behavior theory.With the rapid development of knowledge economy in contemporary society,cultural soft power has become an important part of a country's comprehensive national strength.Honneth adheres to the theoretical construction idea of attaching equal importance to cultural inheritance and thinking innovation,and through the just interpretation of Hegel's philosophy of law,draws from the value concept of reconstruction of individual freedom in today's society,so as to promote the continuous development of social critical theory in the process of reflecting on the problems of the times.Honneth's study of freedom theory is not only the completion of the political and ethical turn of the Frankfurt School's social critical theory,but also makes the study of freedom theory social philosophy.It opens up a theoretical model for the study of freedom theory from the perspective of social philosophy.Although there are still many limitations in Honneth's theory,his recognition paradigm shift of critical theory and the unique research perspective of social freedom theory,the discussion on the problem of human freedom in contemporary society and the construction of social ethical life is worth thinking about both in theory and in reality.
