The Debating Novels In Buzz By The Literary Journal And The Homogenization Of Contemporary Literature

The integration of literature in the early period of the New China was not accomplished at one stroke until 1966.Before that,although Mao Zedong had a great reputation for his literary thoughts,it was not a very short process for his thoughts to be accurately and thoroughly understood.In addition,his own literary thoughts also had a process of development,during which his thoughts inevitably collided with various domestic literary and art thoughts.These collisions are often shown in the form of mass criticism,discussion,or literature and art movement of specific writers’ works or literary phenomena.The Journal of Literary and Art born almost at the same time with new China is one of the most authoritative and important literary periodicals of early New China.Under the new regime,the new society,the new historical era,it is a production to construct the new state ideology and artistic development in the future for the organizational and institutional power operation.It is also the important national periodical media to be endowed with political and cultural mission.In view of the special status of the Journal of Literary and Art,the Hot Novels,the novels that had been hotly discussed in this journal,were important texts to investigate the evolution of literary ideological trends and artistic policies at that time.From 1949 to 1966,in the period of the Seventeen Years,the Hot Novels in the Journal of Literary and Art often have the characteristics of vanguard,ambiguity and exploratory,reflecting the new trend and direction of literature and art in that specific period,and leading the mainstream literary thoughts and social ideological trend.The critical articles on the Hot Novels reflected the ideological views,values and ideological differences of literary and art leaders and even the top leaders,literary critics and readers of all social strata,as well as the evolution of the times,especially in the special period of social transformation,the conflict and impact of new and old values and aesthetics.Therefore,by carding and analyzing the Hot Novels in the Journal of Literature and Art from 1949 to 1966,we can find the specific context of the formation of the integration of contemporary literature,and also give a new explanation with more depth and macro perspective to the different praise and disparagement of the relevant texts.Through the deep analysis of the text of the Hot Novels and the related critical articles in the Journal of Literary and Art from 1949 to 1966 and,we found how the internal discourse of literary creation and criticism in the Seventeen Years changed from pluralism and conflict to identity and harmony.This dissertation focuses on hot discussion and analyzes the cause of focus and the surrounding ecological environment,thus it is helpful to better understand behind of the hot discussion of the novels the social ideological trend change,ideological conflicts,culture background conflicts,literary power game,artistic policy evolution,and the distribution,contradiction,conflict and decomposition between the various forces,and finally how the various forces were disciplined by the system.The period from 1949 to 1955 was the beginning of the process of literary integration.At this stage,the Hot Novels mainly created the figures of workers,farmers and soldiers close to the reality.The content of novels was mainly the reflection of the new life in the new era at that time and the narration of the historical stories of the past revolution.The style of creation at that time was mainly realism and the constitution of the creating subject was more diversified.The writers with background of workers,farmers and soldiers began to grow up,while the position of some senior writers began to get difficult.Around the Hot Novels the criticizing text was given priority.The political criticism discourse and the simple and crude type style began to appear.The creation expectation of higher and more positive new hero image was the more consistent orientation of criticism text in this period.The elite critics were mainly the criticism subject,but the general readers’ radical criticism discourse began to appear.The creation and criticism of Jinsuo opened the prelude of the integration process of the literary system.The period from 1956 to 1962 was the development period of the integration of literary.At this stage,the tall and ideal character image began to appear in the Hot Novels.The glorious revolutionary history,the construction of the new era and the appearance of the contradictions among the people had become the main creative points.The creation subject were also more diverse.The creative style was mainly the harmonious unity of revolutionary realism and revolutionary romanticism.Because of the relatively loose political environment from 1960 to 1962,the related critical texts of the Hot Novels at this period were not only large in amount,but also caused valuable debate and conflict between critical text discourses.The creation specification and standards were preliminary established in the dispute.The artistic quality was cherished by critics.The critical subject of workers,farmers and soldiers strengthened.The radical political commentators began to come on stage,but part of the elite critics stick to the independence of critical personality and thought.The integration of literature finally accomplished in the period from 1963 to 1966.At this stage,the perfect and ideal superman image began to appear in the Hot Novels.The class struggle utterance was highlighted.The writing style had been far from realism to extremes romanticism.The creation subject constitution was relatively simple and most of them were writers with background of workers,farmers and soldiers,their political ideological writing style was of convergence,with the creation of guiding ideology and discourse in common.Centered on the Hot Novels there were similarities between the critical text and the creation in the novels.The evaluation criterion and the guiding ideology of the Hot Novels had gradually converged.And more attention was paid to background of workers,farmers and soldiers had become the same as the subject of creation.The creation and criticism of the song of Ouyang Hai marked the final formation of the literature integration.The construction process of literature integration was not a single marching process.It was always accompanied by the struggle and wrestle of various forces,contradictions and relations in the literary and art circles.From the theory of literature and art,with the Hot Novels from 1949 to 1966 and related criticism as the center,if we inspect the formation and staging of the Seventeen Years of the literary integration,it not only accords with the logical causal relationship,but also shows a kind of scientific research method of from the great to see the small,from the point to the line,from line dimensions,laying emphasis on the text and background,and emphasizing demonstration.From the perspective of research practice,the novel creation and criticism during the Seventeen Years is not only a simple and pure artistic activity,but also an activity which was deeply restricted,strictly regulated and gradually evolving under the social system.The previous researchers tended to regard the literature integration as an already static and solidified form in the period of the Seventeen Years of literature development,and conducted the synchrony-study of its description,presentation,elaboration and debate.In this dissertation,based on seriously and further study of novels and criticism texts,the author conducts the integrated survey on the main characteristics of the time background,the social ideological trend,artistic policy,the novels,the criticism texts of the novel,the novelists and novel critic,and makes the argument of the system of the Seventeen Years literature integration unfold in diachronic,in stage,and in dynamic,to manifest the diachronic depth and scientific reason that should be possessed by the academic research.
