A Theoretical Study On Ontological Status And Functions Of Music Notation

Music Notation is an indispensable tool for music practice and inheritance.Therefore,the study of musical notation is not uncommon in academic circles at home and abroad.However,the research content of musical notation at home and abroad mainly focuses on the notation theory,history and innovation research of musical notation,and few questions about the ontological status and function of musical notation are involved.The problem of the ontological status and function of music scores is an important issue in music aesthetics.Therefore,this study aims to fill the gaps in the field of music aesthetics research.Firstly,this article expounds the relevant theories of music notation.From the perspective of philosophy and aesthetics,this article explores the ontological position of music notation in music through the interpretation of music notation,the fufnction and status of music notation in music,etc.The notation carrier used to record music is a form of preserving and consolidating music memory.Then through the discussion of the relationship between music scores,sound,and musical works,we can further understand the relevant theories of music scores.Music scores are the fixation and establishment of music sound information.Sound makes music exist in the form of sound auditory,but it must be stipulated in the music score Performing music.Then from the perspective of the relationship between musical notation and music,musical works,and the relationship between musical notation and language,the aesthetic thinking of musical notation is developed.Music notation is a way of musical works,a carrier of music,and it is also a special music language.Music is recorded through musical symbols.The music notation originates from the language and writing system.After the music writing system matures,it is independent it is outside the language and writing system,but its relationship with the language and writing system can never be erased.Secondly,the function of musical notation in the history of Western music writing is introduced.The concept of prescriptive and descriptive notation and the division of the two notation properties proposed by Mr.Sig in the 20th century are important prerequisites for identifying changes in function and status of musical notation in the history of music writing Combing two important time nodes in the evolution of the music writing system.The first time nodes occurred in the 14th century.The nature of the notation changed from the descriptive notation at the beginning of the music writing system to a mixed notation combing descriptive notation and prescriptive notation;The second time node was in the 17th century,and the nature of notation evolved from mixed notation in the 14th century to prescriptive notation.This is the innovative research result of this article.After discussing the theory of music scores and the function of music scores in the history of music writing,the three chapters discuss the relationship between music scores and music creation,music scores and music performances,music scores and music acceptance.Music creation,music performances and music acceptance all belong to the links of music practice activities.The relationship between the music scores and these three music practice links is elaborated,and the purpose of this article is to further explore the ontological status and function of music scores From the relationship between music scores and music creation,it can be found that music scores,including drafts,play an irreplaceable role in the process of composers’ creation and recording of basic music ideas.It is found from the relationship between musical scores and music performances that the prescriptive function of music scores for music performances is one of the important effects of changes in music notation functions on music performances.The relationship between music scores and music acceptance involves issues such as music analysis,music understanding,and listening modes.The interpretation of this series of questions helps to clearly understand the significance and function of musical notation as a professional tool in music acceptance.
