Jia Guoping,one of the praiseworthy composers in contemporary Chinese and foreign music field,received his introduction to music at an early age,and then engaged in Jinhu play and folk music.Later he was enrolled by Central Conservatory of Music and learned professional composition.After graduation,he returned home from the further education in Germany and taught in his alma master,during which he still pursued his Ph.D.The distinctive study and work experience helped him to continuously improve professional knowledge and ability.The cultural similarity and differences between the east and the west help him to cultivated the disposition,improved the filed of vision and expanded the mind,endowing him with deeper musical insight and more comprehensive cognition.By virtue of the integration of creation theory and practices,sensibility and rationality,the decades of hard writing,his many musical works build the personalized creation style with highly recognizable musical language,which not only reflects the superb writing technology,but also expresses mild and mellow national flavor.Among many Professor Jia Guoping's works,the paper selects Eisfeuer(2001-2005),The Pine-Soughing Valleys(2014)and Listen to the sounds of Nature(2018)as the analytic targets.These three large string works are composed by different preset material,control and application means.No matter the traditional musical elements or western modern composition techniques,Jia Guoping can deeply transform them in his works,pursuing an artistic realm of both form and spirit.These three works were created in 21~thh century with nearly twenty-year time span,which provides a broad space of horizontal and longitudinal comparison.In the view of pitch directly connecting with preset materials and the application of traditional elements,the paper analyzes each work's default rules,ravels out the practical application means of various specific pitch materials.For example,Eisfeuer takes the pure pentatonic triplet as the basis and broadens the expressive forces through ingenious preset materials.In the mass,its application of pentatonic triplet is flexible and liberal,which quotes the Guqin fragments and integrate into the carrier of preset materials.Taking Twelve-Note serial as the core pitch materials,The Pine-Soughing Valleys avoids sequence participating pitch structure and movement through self-created derivate tonal techniques.Then the paper discusses various personalized approaches in these three works that endow the acoustic texture with pitch external profile and image features,such as qualitative texture heterogenization,or heterogeneous texture homogenization.All of these are different from ordinary orchestration means.Finally,the paper investigates the characteristics of beat classification and eurhythmics in these three works,such as the irregular chronaxie incision basing on regular beat pulse,rhythmic organization implementing global numerical control not non-conjunctive beat.All of these have injected the traditional and modern features into works,which demonstrates composer's superb creative techniques and fresh and alive personalized style.Through the above aspects in these three works,the paper analyzes the creative characteristics and development process of Professor Jia Guoping's orchestral works,conjuring up the whole thing through seeing a part of it.The paper expounds his value orientation,style characteristics and the abundant achievements of the practice and innovation process in blending Chinese and western musical elements in nearly 20 years.
