The Analysis On Ethics Of Algorithm In Chinese Network News Communication

As a critical tool for promoting the intelligent development of network news communication,algorithm has been widely applied in China,especially in the fields of automation news production and personalized news feeds.While improving the development of journalism,algorithm has caused some problems which in root are related to ethicsBased on the guidelines of Trinity theory,this paper explores the ethical part of algorithm in the area of network news communicaiton.According to the theory,the ethical issue needs to be analyzed from three aspects:situational perspective,normative perspective and existential perspective.From these three aspects,this paper focuses on explaining and analyzing the ethics of algorithm in network news communication from the third to fifth chaptersFirstly,looking from the situational perspective,it is true that the algorithm causes and intensifies a series of ethical anomies,such as information cocoons and social value alienation in Chinese network news communication.They constrain the positive development momentum of network news communication.The core answers lie in interest inducement and institutional defects.The Second is the normative perspective.Considering the algorithm particularity and the overall background of the Chinese socialist journalism,a qualified algorithm conformed to moral principles should follow five basic requirements:impartiality,preventability,respectability and legitimization,transparency and positive guidance of public opinion.Only abiding by those five requirement could an algorithm effectively support the future development of Chinese socialist journalism.The third goes to the existential perspective.In this paper,the ethical responsibility subjects of algorithms in network news communication are divided into three categories:the algorithm engineer,the product manager and the user.The first is the algorithm engineer who is the designer and user of algorithms.As technical people,they will consciously or not infiltrate their values,ethical tendencies and other personal ideas into the algorithm.After my investigation of and research on algorithm engineers,three evident problems come out:their cognition of algorithm ethics anomie risk is relatively weak;Lack of impetus in dealing with the risk of algorithm ethics anomie;poor performances in the test of algorithm ethics.The second is the product manager.This paper explores how product managers understand the ethical problems of algorithm and their self ethical positioning from algorithm design to completion stage.The third is the user.As the objects of algorithm and data providers,they more or less participate in the process of algorithm improvement.Therefore,users’ cognition,perception and response to the risk of ethical anomie reflect how they employ their initiatives to avoid the risk.This paper proves that even if users recognize the ethical risk of algorithm,they still choose to passively cope with the risk for the sake of meeting demandsThrough the analysis on situational perspective,normative perspective and existential perspective,this paper represents respective solutions for those three perspectives to realize moral algorithm.First of all,the situational perspective as the technical problem could be solved by technologies like the algorithm for learning morality and the blockchain.The second one is for normative perspective.Learned from western experiences,it is useful to restrict algorithm behaviors and results by external laws and professional ethics.The final one links to existential perspective.It helps subjects internalizing their algorithmic ethics and moralities by improving algorithm engineers’ professional ethics cultivation,users’ algorithmic ethics knowledge education and enterprises’ ethical managementIn a word,analyzing the anomie of the algorithm in network news communication,forming the ethical standards for the algorithm and investigating responsible subjects of the algorithm are sincerely the most important and urgent tasks in network news communication researches.The ultimate purpose of this research is to ensure the full realization of the algorithm with features of fairness,prevention,respectability,transparency and positive public guidance.
