Research On The Influence Mechanism Of Institutional Environment On Innovative Enterprise Innovation Performance

Innovation is the key to achieve competitive advantages and growth for firms in the new period.How to improve innovative enterprise innovation performance has always been a hot issue which scholars and practitioners follow with interest.With the development of emerging economies,the variable of “institutional environment” has gradually attracted the attention of scholars.Institutional environment is regarded as the third decisive factor to explain the enterprise strategy and performance in the context of emerging economy.A large number of studies have shown that institutional environment has an important impact on the corporate innovation activities and performance in common with industrial competition and resource conditions.However,the influence mechanism of institutional environment on innovative enterprise innovation performance is still a major problem that has not yet been resolved in existing research.According to the institution-based strategic view,the institutional environment influences the corporate strategic choices through legitimacy constraint,and then produces corresponding performance results.Therefore,based on the institutional theory,strategic management theory and business model theory,this article makes a research on the relationship between institutional environment,business model and innovative enterprise innovation performance and explores the specific impact mechanism of institutional environment on innovative enterprise innovation performance in the context of emerging economies.It provides theoretical basis and empirical support for improving the innovative enterprise innovation performance in the context of emerging economies.First of all,based on reviewing and summarizing some relevant research literature,the paper defines the concepts,constituent elements and measurement variables of institutional environment,business model,and innovative enterprise innovation performance.According to the relationship between institutional environment and innovation performance in the perspective of new institutional economics,organizational sociology and new schumpeterian theory,it establishes the research content framework of institutional environment on innovative enterprise innovation performance.Secondly,the paper makes a theoretical and empirical analysis of the threshold effect mechanism between the institutional environment and innovative enterprise innovationperformance.Through the theoretical analysis of the threshold effect,it sets up a threshold regression panel model taking regulative,normative and cognitive environment as independent variables,institutional environment as threshold variable and innovation performance as dependent variable.Furthermore,it makes an empirical test using panel data analysis method.Thirdly,the paper makes a theoretical and empirical analysis of the mediating effect mechanism between the institutional environment and innovative enterprise innovation performance.Based on the research conclusion of threshold effect,the institutional environment is divided into a low threshold interval and a high threshold interval.Through theoretical analysis of the mediating effects in different thresholds,it constructs a mediation regression model taking regulative,normative and cognitive environment as independent variables,market positioning,operational process and profit model as mediating variables and innovation performance as dependent variable.Furthermore,it makes an empirical test using multivariate statistical analysis method.Fourthly,the paper makes a theoretical and empirical analysis of the dynamic effect mechanism between the institutional environment and innovative enterprise innovation performance.According to the research conclusion of threshold effect and mediating effect,it sets up a system dynamics model of the institutional environment,business model and innovative enterprise innovation performance in different threshold intervals.Based on the components of the business model,the whole system is divided into three subsystems including “institutional environment,market positioning and innovative enterprise innovation performance”,“institutional environment,operational process and innovative enterprise innovation performance” and “institutional environment,profit model and innovative enterprise innovation performance”.Furthermore,it makes a simulation analysis and sensitivity analysis using system dynamics analysis method.Finally,the paper puts forward the suggestions for improving innovative enterprise innovation performance.Based on the results of the threshold effect,it proposes the specific measures for improving the institutional environment from the three aspects including regulative,normative and cognitive environment.Based on the findings of the mediating effect,it proposes the specific measures for improving the business model legality from the three aspects including market positioning,operational process and profit model legality.Based on the conclusions of dynamic effect,it proposes the specific measures for the business model design and optimization from the three aspects including market positioning,operational process and profit model basic elements.The innovations of the paper lies in:(1)This dissertation builds the analytical framework of the influence mechanism of institutional environment on innovative enterprise innovation performance.Based on new institutional economics,organizational sociology and new schumpeterian theory,the mechanism can be divided into three parts which are threshold effect mechanism,mediating effect mechanism and dynamic effect mechanism.It realizes the integration of the institution,strategy and performance.Also,the paper provides some new ideas for contingency understanding of the relationship between institutional environment,business model and innovation of institutional environment,business model and innovation performance,it transforms the research perspective from "how much" to "how" and complements the findings of the threshold effect and mediating mechanism.From a theoretical perspective,these findings provide a more in-depth understanding of the relationship between institutional environment and innovative enterprise innovation performance in the context of emerging economic,which also gives inspiration to both government institution construction policy and corporate business model design suggestion.
