At this stage,China's economy is in a critical period of transition from high-speed growth to high-quality growth. The external and internal environment which its development faced is severe and complex. It objectively requires to link supply-side structural reform with changes in China's domestic demand to promote economic growth. As the residents' income increased, the consumption levels continue to be changed, and the consume willingness gradually shifts from pursuing quantity to pursuing quality. However, the unbalanced economic development has also exposed the actual problems and contradictions existing at the current stage such as uneven development between regions, insufficient consumer demand, slow consumption upgrades, and the mismatch between supply and demand structures. As the main influencing factor of consumer demand, residents' income not only determines the total consumption demand needs, but also the changes of the consumption levels. Therefore,in the context of objective reality,it is necessary to analyze the characteristics of the evolution of Chinese residents' consumption at this stage.Based on the perspective of 'income distribution',this paper follows the logical rules of 'the imbalance of regional economic development--the distribution disparity of residents' income--the regional non-equilibrium evolution of consumer demand--the regional difference in the residents' consumption structure--the regional heterogeneous development of emerging consumer market ' to explore the mechanism effects of the regional income distribution disparity on consumption demand of urban residents depthly, which in order to grasp the evolution characteristics of consumer demand at the current stage, stimulate the consume willingness, release potential consumer demand, and seek new equilibrium of supply and demand. The equilibrium state has important theoretical and practical implications. The main research contents and related conclusions are as follows:Firstly,a review of relevant economic consumption theories and researches clarify the theoretical connotation of the consumption effect of the regional income distribution disparity.Based on theoretical analysis, the impact of regional income distribution disparity on consumer demand is mainly reflected in two aspects: on the one hand, the difference in average income level between regions represented by the income distribution position determines the regional overall consumption demand, and on the other hand, the income distribution scale and form which represent the difference in income groups distribution structure determines the regional scale of different consumption levels.Under the combined effect of income level and group distribution structure gap, household consumption behavior and consumer market development will show regional differences. On this basis, the follow-up research starts from the multidimensional decomposition and measurement of income distribution, the internal mechanism of regional income distribution disparity to consumer demand, the individual consumption effect and the consumer market effect of income distribution disparity.Secondly,in order to explore the consumption effects of regional income distribution disparity,it need to describe the spatial agglomeration form and income distribution pattern of urban residents' income level to specifically measure the disparity of income distribution between regions.Based on the local autocorrelation method, urban residents' income level has the spatial agglomeration characteristics of the east, the middle and the west,of which specific performance is the high income agglomeration in the east and the low income agglomeration in the middle and the west. The CHIP data and CFPS data are employed with the non-parametric kernel density estimation to fit the income distribution changes. The results showed that while the overall income level increased, the regional income gap widened and the distribution imbalance trend deepened.Furthermore,by constructing the counterfactual distribution, the income distribution disparity between the east and other regions could be decomposed into two parts: one is the income level gap formed by the different income distribution positions, that is the 'mean gap';the other part is the difference of group density caused by the income distribution scale and form, that is the 'distribution gap'.The decomposition results show that the difference in the middle-income group between the regions is mainly from the income level disparity, while the difference in the middle-income group is mainly due to the gap in the group scales.Thirdly, according to the results of regional income distribution disparity, the effect of consumption inequality between regions can be deeply analyzed to discuss the mechanism of the different income distribution on consumer demand. In order to solve this problem,it utilized CHIP data with unconditional quantile regression to describe regional consumption inequality distribution characteristics. From the regional perspective, the high-level consumption differences between the east and the central have been widened, while the consumption differences between the middle-level and high-level have been narrowed. The consumption differences above the middle-level between the east and west have been increased, while the consumption differences between the middle-level and lower levels have been weakened. That means regional difference in low-end consumption has narrowed, and the difference in high-end consumption has widened. The decomposition effect of RIF model on the inter-regional consumption difference indicates that the impact of the income gap on the consumption difference exists in the whole distribution. As the consumption level rises, the direct effect of the income disparity is weakened, while the influence of heterogeneous consumption propensities has increased. In terms of the impact of income distribution disparity on inter-regional consumption inequality, the 'mean gap' limits its final consumption demand level, while the 'distribution gap' has a more significant impact on the release of medium and high-end consumption potential.Forthly, based on the perspective of individual consumption effects, further explore the mechanism of the regional income distribution disparity on the evolution of household consumption structure. The results of the Spatial Dubin Model(SDM)show that the optimization of urban residents' consumption structure has obvious spatial dependence and spatial spillover effect.Compared with the residents from the central and the west, the eastern residents are more prefer to the development and enjoyment consumption, which means their consumption structural optimization is more rapid. Moreover, the consumption behavior of the eastern residents in the future will play a demonstration role for the residents from the central and the west regions.Based on the micro-foundation,it utlized the CFPS data combined with the improved ELES model to explore the effect of income distribution disparity on the regional differences of household consumption structure. The results show that after satisfying the basic needs of life, the income distribution disparity affected development and enjoyment consumption more significantly, which could lead to differences in regional consumption structure optimization. From the perspective of the regional consumption structure differences of different income groups,low-income groups are mainly affected by the income gap, while middle-income groups are particularly affected by the group size gap.Fifthly, when it comes to consumer market effect, this paper analyzes the upgrading characteristics of representative emerging consumer markets such as culture consumer market based on the regional income distribution disparity.Through the threshold regression model, the non-linear effect of the residents' income level in each region on cultural consumption demand is explored. The income divides cultural consumption into different levels.Only by breaking the income threshold, the cultural consumption could be upgraded. The results show that the level and quantity of cultural consumption income thresholds in the east are higher than those in the central and the west, indicating that urban residents in this area have richer cultural consumption preferences and levels. From the perspective of group size, although the high-income group is mainly concentrated in the east, the relatively high threshold of cultural consumption income has weakened the purchasing power of this group, which means the demand for high-end cultural consumption market cannot be greatly improved.Although the thresholds for income thresholds in the central and the west regions are lower, the limited medium-income and high-income group size also constrains the high-quality development of their cultural consumption markets. Therefore, based on the relevant theoretical basis and the frontier of empirical research, this paper proposes the consumption effect theory of regional income distribution disparity. In the study of the evolution of urban residents' consumption demand in China, the new perspective of income distribution difference is introduced, which is tested from different levels. The correlation mechanism between income distribution disparity and regional consumption demand is obtained, while the characteristics of individual consumption behavior and consumer market development under the influence of the regional income distribution disparity are acquired through the comparative research.According to the above empirical test content, this paper attributed it to the results of three different levels, which are consumption inequality effect, consumption structure effect and consumption nonlinear effect. In the practical sense, under the background of special national conditions, the advanced technical methods are utilized to empirically test the evolution of a series of consumption effects induced by regional income distribution disparity, and fully take into account the reality of regional imbalances at this stage. The impact of the situation has a better interpretation of the real problem. Finally, this paper believes that it is necessary to reasonably narrow the income gap between regions, balance the spatial distribution of income groups, and improve the adaptability and flexibility of supply structure to the changes in consumption demand, which in order to stimulate residents' willingness to consume, release consumption potential, and foster new consumption kinetic energy.
