Abstract/Summary:
The discipline of students with disabilities has been controversial for the past century. Research on relevant sources of law, including federal law, regulations, case law, related law review articles, scholarly publications, and other relevant documents, provides a comprehensive overview of how the disciplinary provisions of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act have evolved over time.;In order to provide school administrators with a relevant legal history of the disciplinary provisions of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, a legal research methodology was employed for this study. Using deductive analysis and triangulation to the point of saturation, these sources were reviewed, analyzed, and synthesized to construct a historical perspective of the evolution of the disciplinary provisions of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and a current composite perspective on the present legal status of these provisions, and to hypothesize the likely future directions for these provisions.
