Abstract/Summary:
In this study, constructive replication was used to examine the generalizability and relevance of the United Nations (UN) E-Readiness Conceptual Model to a new population---large global companies. The specific, empirically based findings for this study are (a) geographic location influences E-Readiness, (b) this influence is strongest at the sub region level, and (c) the influence of geographic location upon E-Readiness is weakest at the home nation level. These findings confirm results from previous studies and provide evidence as to the generalizability of the UN E-Readiness Conceptual Model. Overall, this study provides additional evidence that the E-Readiness Conceptual Model has relevance for research and analysis particularly with respect to comparisons of usage of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) within the UN member nations. This study also contributed new insights into the use of Internet search engines (i.e., Google) as tools for research into organizational use of the Web.
