Abstract/Summary:
Educational institutions, especially community colleges, are facing challenges to provide accessible, affordable, and quality learning opportunities to a growing number of both traditional and nontraditional students. Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems facilitate institutional operations and provide an integrated platform for information gathering, sharing, and reporting purposes. The quality of information and the ERP system itself can have a profound impact on individual capabilities and organizational results. Hence, this research study explores the role and impact of information technology in general, and the enterprise resource planning system (ERP) in particular, in supporting institutional operations and quality management programs using a mixed methods case study at a community college that has successfully adopted and integrated the Baldrige quality model.
