Abstract/Summary:
Given that there are still many unexplored avenues in the determination of factors which increase the likelihood of merger and acquisition (M& A) success, a case-study dissertation research project focused on determining the impact of a pre-M&A strategic alliance between the companies involved in the merger or acquisition on the outcome of that merger or acquisition was conducted. Based on a review of scholarly research on M&As as well as various quantitative and qualitative techniques, a conceptual framework is presented along with a methodology for research execution and result analysis which considers contrasting theoretical frameworks but is aligned with the econometric approach. Following this, implications of findings as well as relevant strengths and weaknesses of the research design and execution strategy are reviewed. Finally, opportunities for future research and development are discussed.
