| The Conolly Eating Disorders Assessment is a reliable and valid way of initially assessing individuals who may have an eating disorder. It examines Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Binge Eating Disorder symptoms from the newest criteria of the DSM-IV-TR and related research. It is a 48-item, 4-point scale that has four factors: Food Restriction and Elimination, Food Consumption Preoccupation, Bingeing Symptoms, and Intrapersonal Distress. The internal consistency of the scale is excellent (r = .932) and for each of the factors is above .74. This scale was created to follow the newest criteria of the DSM-IV-TR and it has concurrent validity with the EDI-2 (r = .676) and each of the questions on a Body Image Measure (r = .816, r = .858, r = .728). Further research needs to be done to test the construct of the CEDA on a larger clinical population, increase the African American sample, and research what the norms are for the responses given on the CEDA. |
