Abstract/Summary:
In this dissertation I use a hybrid methodology consisting of a two-step process. The first step consists of conducting individual phenomenological interviews in order to allow the voices of young adult siblings of individuals on autism spectrum to be heard. The second step consists of a participatory action component. During this step, participants met as a group and become co-researchers. During the group meeting, shared meaningful themes discerned through the analysis of transcribed protocols. I offered a space for participants to become co-researchers in the discussion of suggested activities that can be put into place to address hopes, concerns, or both hopes and concerns of this specific population. It is my hope that participants and co-researchers will be empowered through involvement in this participatory action research and that future program developments for working with this specific population will be inspired.
