Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to identify what motives influence one's decision to purchase a football season ticket through Georgia Tech football. The primary purpose of this study focused on those individuals who had purchased a Georgia Tech football season in 2009, but not in 2010. The chief investigator e-mailed each subject a cover letter that notified the subject a questionnaire was available via internet link. The questionnaire identified the subject's demographic information and also required them to rate various motive influences when purchasing a football season ticket at a level of importance. The motive areas used for this study were: schedule that included subcategories of opponents, game dates, and travel distance to Bobby Dodd stadium; Personal Reasons that included sub-categories of financial situation, family obligations, and bad personal experience; and overall experience which included sub-categories of atmosphere, parking accessibility, pre-game events, and pageantry.;Of the 1324 questionnaires delivered, 301 (22.7%) were completed, which demonstrates a low response rate. The responses were used for the data analysis of this study. The data was observed for main motivation response. A Chi-square for Independence statistical test was performed to determine if there was a statistical significance between the motives and age and the motives and gender. Results showed that three motives were found to be statistically significant; age by family obligation, age by parking accessibility, and gender by game dates.
