Abstract/Summary:
Quick and robust algorithms are required for dynamic competitive market environment. Solutions for routing of frequent or daily deliveries must be obtainable in an efficient manner for them to be relevant to the changing system. Distributors need to strike a balance between distribution cost and customer service. By finding interactions among speed, vehicle capacity, departure time, and distribution routes, this requires developing performance metrics to find a relationship between arrival time, traveling speed and customer service.; This research seeks to construct efficient delivery routes for extremely short life-cycle product subjected to vehicle capacity and delivery time based constraints. In addition, a truck will be assigned to each route; in order to minimize distribution time, all trucks must operate simultaneously. A pragmatic test case that involves real life data was used to determine practical and feasible solutions. This is accomplished by developed Decision Support System to create routes. Elastic Net, algorithm was developed to solve Traveling Salesman problem. Trimming Algorithm and simulation based testing. Finally, number of truck, departure time, and vehicle size will be determined while maintaining feasibility relative to other constraints.; Using newly developed model along with simulation in the experiment, performance matrices are created to justify the result. Performance matrices indicate that vehicle speed, capacity, and travel time are statistically significant factors. Performance matrices also indicate that Sweep Method is better than Saving Method in short life cycle product delivery.
