Abstract/Summary:
This dissertation is about the development of a computing infrastructure that provides design engineers with computer support in the formulation and execution of design problem solutions when optimizing large and complex system designs. The support is aimed at improving the efficiency of the design process by bettering the designer's ability to apply the concurrent and collaborative methods of multidisciplinary design optimization. Software analysis and design models are developed that lead to the implementation of a design framework.
