Abstract/Summary:
Computerized simulation of meshing and contact of crossed helical gear drives and spur gear drives with modified geometry has been developed. Application of the proposed approach for shaving of helical gears and design of a gear drive in substitution of a conventional low-loaded worm-gear drive have been developed as well.; The study shows that the modified process of shaving can provide a localized and stable bearing contact, and reduce the level of transmission errors caused by misalignment.; The proposed methods of modification of spur gears provide a localized bearing contact and a predesigned parabolic function of transmission errors for compensation of the transmission errors caused by misalignment.; The design of a gear drive formed by an involute helical gear and an involute worm has been developed. The conditions of meshing and contact have been investigated by application of the developed Tooth Contact Analysis (TCA) program. The results of investigation show that the developed gear drive may be used as light power drive in substitution of a conventional worm-gear drive. The geometry of the drive and the grinding wheel for the generation of the worm have been developed.
