Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of the qualitative grounded theory study was to develop a theoretical model grounded in data gathered to explore the possible effects of diminished CSR and the opinions and lived experiences of residents in Battle Creek, Michigan. Specific areas of interest included impact analysis on job safety, environmental consciousness, crime, economic development, and cultural development. The lived experiences of 21 participants of Battle Creek, Michigan, were explored. Digitally recorded and transcribed interviews were used. Eight patterns emerged that supported the literature reviewed in Chapter 2, Jensen's enlightened stakeholder theory, and a new CSR influencing variables theory. Recommendations for Battle Creek Developers, community officials, and industries were included. CSR can influence a community's performance either negatively or positively.
